NEW YORK – The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through November 1. A total of 135 regular-season games were scheduled for Oct. 11 through Nov. 1.

The cancellation was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL.

Actually cancellation wasn't necessary, they could have brought in replacement players or could have started the season in hopes of reaching a negotiation without locking out, then again we would have got 3 games in and the players would have went on strike or they would have done it right before the winter classic and screwed the league, still there are other options. No matter it just frees up a lot of my time for other things. laugh.gif

I wouldn't have minded replacement (scab) players. Heck they have a "minor league" don't they with the affiliations of what is it the AHL? Or is the AHL also "locked out" on strike?

The AHL is still playing. I know the Pens moved all their players with two way contracts to WilkesBarre. Also heard Hall n RNH are playing in the AHL.
