If so i especially interested in any White Sox lists for all brands from 2006 on. I'm thinking of updating mine. Thanks Richard A good place I go for team checklists is www.teamsets4u.com. Give it a try! - R. |

I live in Canada and have both traded with people in the States and have bought from eBay sellers in the States. If it helps you know, it costs a lot less to send US to Canada than it does for me to send to the States. I'd do it if I were you, even for a cheap card. Heck, it'll only expand your potential customer base.
As a side note, for more expensive items, with a declared value I think of $20US or more, Canada Customs will convert the value to Canadian dollars and charge 7% tax on it. In addition, they'll often open to the package to "inspect" it, then charge an additional $5 fee. I've heard reports of cards going missing from these "inspected" packages. That's why I only buy single cards or small lots of cards that can be shipped in a bubble envelope. Anything that is shipped in a box is likely to be opened and have extra fees attached.

QUOTE(maple19 @ May 26 2008, 09:45 PM) Somebody Must Have One FT Mike I've been trying to pick one of these up myself for my Olerud collection. Been watching eBay and they tend to go for $5 to $10. Might be your best bet. - R. |

Hi,
I've beem living in the Toronto area since 1998 and the number of shops around here has really dwindled even since then. Your best bet might be to try "Legends of the Game" in downtown Toronto at the corner of King and John Streets. They tend to carry a pretty diverse selection. Like a typical shop in Canada they have mostly hockey, but also quite a bit of baseball, football, and basketball, and also do a fair amount of soccer, golf and non-sports stuff too.
But if you couldn't find what you were looking for at the Expo last weekend, we probably won't find it in a shop in Canada. You may have to search eBay.
Hope this helps.

Nice topic for a thread. Here's my story:
I started collecting baseball cards in 1989 during the "boom" and the first set I tried to build was 1990 Donruss. I think I was down to the last dozen or so that I needed, and a guy offered me a trade that at the time said was a steal for me. He offered me the Jerome Walton I needed in exchange for the John Olerud I had. Walton was the '89 Rookie of the Year for the Cubs, he said, and Olerud was some guy nobody knew because he played in Toronto. Walton's going to be a superstar and Olerud probably won't even have a card next year. I did the trade and eventually finished the set.
The Jays traded Fred McGriff to San Diego to give Olerud a full-time job at first base in 1991, and I remembered that trade I had done a year earlier. As I learned more about Olerud and the type of person he is, I figured I'd make him my favorite player and collect his cards. After all, he never played in the minors, so I wouldn't have to worry about finding his minor league cards, right?
Now more than 17 years later I still collect John Olerud and have over 1,000 different cards and other memorabilia items in my collection. I have patch cards, serial numbered cards, in-person autographs, and even a 1/1 card, but my favorite card remains the 1990 Donruss #711 RC because it reminds me of how I traded it away.

QUOTE(jaderock @ May 2 2008, 09:07 PM) Wow...only $41 for 2nd row seat...that's really good! Great autos and thanks for sharing the story!!! The Jays have been doing Flashback Friday's for a few seasons now, since their 30th season in 2006. I went to see the Phillies and Jays in June 2006 and meet John Olerud at the game. We sat in the same section near third base. Great idea and I hope the Jays' continue Flashback Fridays for as long as they can. My Olerud story and pix are on my website (see my sig). Congrats on the Hentgen auto too! Right on the sweet spot of the ball! Nice! - R. |

QUOTE(oopdawg316 @ Jan 20 2008, 02:53 PM) Just found this forum to introduce myself. My Name is Jason I have Been Collecting off and on for about 16 years. I have a wife and 2 sons..so dont get to do too much buying or trading. I am a Pro Wrestler and have been doing that for 8 years...that is my passion I love being a Pro Wrestler. I Hope to do alot more I have 3 trades pending. I am a Big Ken Griffey Jr fan. I have been trying to get as many autos of him as i can...I have one..LOL I Like Drew Stanton and I really Love the 2007 Leaf Rookies and Stars Football Patch Autos I think those are the coolest...also the Letterman autos...I am Trying hard to find a griffey jr letterman.... I just dont have the cash flow to do it...and the cards I do have are all low end so...you know how that goes...I rarely get to bust hobby boxes so that is why I have no high end cards. But I will say this 2 years ago I went into a wal mart about 30 mins from where I live and bought a few packs of Sage Aspire and when I opened the pack I noticed all the cards were of Reggie Bush. There was a note it in from the pres. of sage stating that I had just recieved an all reggie bush pack the only pack like that. so I look through it and in the middle was a Reggie Bush Title Ticket Auto #10/10. My Greatest Pull Ever!!! I sold it on Ebay later for $1365 that was the thrill of my collecting life.....so often you can get highend from retail.....that is all I have right now.....thanks for reading....hope to get many trades in the future!!!!! Welcome! I'm a Rookie here myself, but I feel your pain in regards to not having the cash flow to support your hobby. In the last 3 years I've gotten married, bought a house, and now have a baby daughter, all of which are amazing, but my card collecting has really slowed. You just have to narrow your collecting down to what really interests you, and not get caught up in the glittery new sets that come out almost daily. Myself, I'm only collecting John Olerud and a few Topps baseball sets. I can't afford the high-end inserts, patch cards, etc, but every now and then I scoop up a good deal from somewhere like eBay, or I'll pull something from a Topps box that I can trade or sell. Happy collecting! - R. |
