Collector Zone _ Hobby Talk _ TV shows, movies..... FUN!

Please help list all baseball cards that were used as a prop and clearly shown in a TV Show or movie. This is what I will base my new collection on. And each one will go in a brick. I know, kind of corny, but I can fib a little and say it was the actual proped used. shifty.gif

All help is appreciated! smile.gif

So far I have:

Television:
ST:TNG - 1962 Topps Roger Maris (have)
DS9 - 1951 Bowman Willie Mays (looking)
Married with Children - ???? Topps Joe Nuxhall (looking)

Movies:
Diminished Capacity - T206 Wildfire Schultz (in transit)
Diminished Capacity - 1976 Topps Ken Reitz (have)
Mr.Baseball - the actual Jack Elliot card (looking)

Anything else I may be missing for my searches?

What about the movie with Cher who had the son with the deformity. He was kinda like the elephant boy. He was an avid card collector in the movie. Also, the TV series, The Wonder Years, featured a young Fred Savage trading cards with his friend Paul on several ocassions.

Wow I bet there were a lot used in different shows and movies.

Are you going to include reality shows like Pawn Stars, Auction Hunters in the tv shows or just fictional shows?

Here are 9 you won't find: http://www.nextmovie.com/blog/movie-baseball-cards/

I will have to think about this because I vaguely remember some.

If they showed the actual card(s) I would try to obtain them. The card needed enough air time (at least a few seconds) to be absolutely recognized.

I hadn't thought about that. I will start with real cards in fictional shows first. Pawn Stars and Auction Hunters might be too much out of my range.

It might have been a reach looking for that Jack Elliot card. I might have to stick with real cards in the meantime.

Wait. Is that card #1 in the set? What condition was it in when it was shown in Cop Out?

Well, when it first showed up, it was a Gem Mint 10 Pafko, but at the end of the movie it was shown with a bullet hole through Pafko's face, laugh.gif

Gem Mint 10 or PSA 1.... Whichever is easier for you. That movie Cop Out was basically based around a baseball card if you were to watch it, but it's hilarious. Yes, it is card # 1 in the '52 Topps set.

That was one of the first to come to my mind as well but I don't think they ever showed what Aaron card it was...it's been awhile.

The other was from the movie Pride of the Yankees when Gehrig (as a boy) trades all his cards except for a Ruth to get the chance to play in the neighborhood pick up game. Again, can't remember if they showed the card or not??

This was the first one I thought of. smile.gif

In The Goonies when they found Chester Copperpot he had a 1973 Lou Gehrig #472 card on him. What's funny is Chester was supposed to be down there since well before then. smile.gif

There were also a bunch of old cards in Rain Man, but I couldn't tell you what.

Posted by: dd316 Dec 10 2012, 02:47 PM

Nothing else? I thought this was a cool idea.

I wonder if any of the Stephen Spielberg movies have them? (The ones with families and kids, not Indiana Jones type stuff)

How about in "Big"?
