Mattel Inc. announced today that they have acquired the rights to be WWE's master toy licensee. WWE had been with Jakks Pacific for years and had filed a lawsuit against them, which was dismissed in December, where they accused Jakks of bribery to win their last licensing deal with WWE. The contract with Mattel, a giant in the toy business, goes into effect in January of 2010 and will last for five years.

Meanwhile, Jakks has already signed a deal with TNA to be their mater toy licensee, starting next January when the WWE deal expires.

I would love to see what McFarlane Toys could do with the license... especially with a line of the older wrestlers.
