As a team, the CZT have discussed several avenues to get our site hopping again. It may seem to some (newer members, people just returning after a hiatus) that we are still slow or "dead", however, we have made great strides in picking up the activity here. In just a few months, we have gone from less than 10 trades a month completed to over 30 with at least 10 or more active trades at any given time! Additionally, we are seeing upwards of 75 members logging in daily (up from 35 or less) and a new member on an average of every other day.


With all that being said, my question is:

What do you think would help boost more activity on TCC?


I have discussed this topic with the other CZT, but now I want to hear from everyone else. Let us know what you think or what you would like to see. Keep in mind, that we have limited abilities so some ideas, while good, may not be feasible at this time.

I trade a lot on Facebook ever time I send my parcel out on a decoy I write ty and always but trading card link on it I have seen about 5 people have join so far that I have traded with on facebook

My #1 suggestion is and always will be update the homepage. January 2011 Trader of the Month is the predominant item showing when going to the homepage. It gives the feel that no one has been on the site in a while.

We are diligently working on that issue.

I don't like the argument that the home page has anything to do with the decline in activity here on TCC. Look at some of the other, more successful, forums. They don't even have home pages. Since I still have access to TCC's analytics, I can also tell you that TCC's home page isn't even the first page that most people who visit TCC see first. In fact, it's not even close!

The home page is only the first page that people see when they visit TCC 9.13% of the time and is only viewed 3.48% of the time overall (in the last 30 days). Even if all of those people registered, keeping in mind that most of those are probably spiders and bots, we'd still be having this same conversation.

I don't know what the answer is for activity but I can assure you that TCC's decline is not because of any single reason, and especially not because the home page is outdated. It's also, unfortunately, not something that can be fixed quickly, or without the help of as many people as possible.

Here is my take. I've been a member here for 7 years. I left for awhile but still a member. I give my opinion hoping there's no resentment.

It's gotten boring here. It's not the site, not the homepage, not the great folks who are avid TCC users and are consistent on a daily basis. I see the veterans of the site doing they're best to keep it active.. but lets face it.. really not much to look at which makes it un-appealing to other users and newer members. I'm here everyday several times a day. My first look is at trading/selling.. Baseball, Football, and Basketball. Every time I sign on looking for a new thread in these topics I see the same one that's been sitting unanswered for days and days. I have noticed some buckets I look at are containing 2 handfuls of low end cards from a member that has 10,000 post's and 300 trades. It doesn't add up and if I can see it, so can others. Even the trades that are made are fairly mediocre and boring.

I come here, or sign up for this site looking for Levi's and all I see are Wranglers. Excitement that used to be here will be here again but we need to keep the page alive.. fresh everyday with new stuff, information, and Interaction.

I don't think you've offended anyone with your post. It's pretty clear, looking around, that you're absolutely right.

What Bill said about coming to check on threads and seeing no updates for several days is as Mike said on the nailhead. Again there is no one single answer/solution.

I usually come here everyday, there have been some exceptions but for the most part in the last few months I've check several times a day.

My usual routine is to go to the forum INDEX page which I have bookmarked not the HOME page. I can go several months without ever seeing the Home page.

The first thing I do is to look for any unread and new threads. Most days I go in order of what is on the index page, other days I'll check group breaks first then skip down to the "everything" section and Sports News.

In the evening sometimes I'll first go to update My TCC Blog with whatever I got as a mailday as it relates to the hobby. That is what I have used it for is to track my maildays. It appears that for the last few years I seem to be the only member who even bothers updating their blog. The last couple of years I have duplicated my posts over at TCZ in the "Show and Tell" in my maildays thread. I really need to go back and make sure my much older entries are duplicated someplace else, as the rare times the TCC server was down I had no access to any of that info.
