This is my first post in I don't know how long and I'm still in the top 10? Of course, what you really need is a top poster that is not based on the number of posts, but rather the quality of posts. For example, of my 241 posts, if 200 are in the offtopic areas, I'm not really contributing much to the board. Anyway, I digress...hope yall are staying cool in what has been a pretty warm summer around here. By the way, Bob, I looked...it's passed a certain time and I don't see "it" yet. Is "it" still being worked on? Chad |

QUOTE(bob_TCC @ May 20 2005, 12:31 AM) So, someone has uploaded a copy of the movie to the Web already... Here's the start of an article from CNN.com: "The final chapter of the Star Wars saga has gone over to the Internet's dark side. 'Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith' has been leaked onto a major file-sharing network just hours after opening in theaters, at a time when Hollywood is increasingly concerned about online piracy." Click here for the full story. Over 16,000 downloads underway? -Bob And this surprises you? Actually, what surprises me is that number (16,000) isn't much much higher. Chad |

QUOTE(bob_TCC @ May 20 2005, 12:35 AM) Katie Brownell, 11, struck out all 18 batters she faced last Saturday, yielding no more than two balls to any batter. Click here for the story on SI.com. -Bob Someone on the Reds message board posted about this a day or so ago. He said they (Reds) should hire her and then someone else responded they would claim they couldn't afford her. Chad |

QUOTE(jrlenox @ May 19 2005, 09:40 AM) one spoiler that fans will be happy to read. I only saw Jar-Jar for about 10 seconds on screen and no dialog to recall. Jim, I actually liked Jar-Jar. Nothing like a little comedy to liven things up a bit. Chad |

Don't know how much of you follow this kind of stuff, but if you do, what (if anything) has caught your eye? Which announced system do you want the most?
For me, I wasn't blown away by anything really. I totally like Nintendo...always have. I still don't understand why I bought an N64 one year. The other two (Microsoft and Sony) impressed me enough though that I'll keep my eye's open. If I have the spare "change" at the Xbox 360 launch, I'll probably get one. Same thing with the PS3. I did the same thing with XBox/PS2. Then, I decided that I liked a lot of the Xbox games better, but because I had the hardware for the PS2, if a game DID come out that I wanted, then I could go ahead and get it.
As for the games...well...I'm mostly a sports gamer. So I doubt if I'll wait...but we'll just have to see...for the XBox 360 as I'll be going after NCAA College Football 2006. But a lot of the NextGen sports titles look pretty nice...well except for NBA 2k6 and Shaq dunking the ball (without the rim moving...they noticed this too on a couple of other sites).
But probably the game I'm most excited about is actually Quake IV. I'm not a huge FPS fan, though I have always enjoyed Id's games. Quake III carried me through countless sleepless hours after I had lost my job a couple of years ago. The trailer for it (Q4) looks absolutely great. Let's just hope they announce support for CTF at Quake Con....I love CTF!

I admit I rarely watch the show....except for an occasional late-night rerun when nothing else is on. So I was a bit surprised when I watched this one and there was nothing really major happening....though I thought there might be when he was having trouble waking up after the surgery. I suppose it won't be a show that you'll always remember as being the finale and that's probably what they wanted. I also watched the retro show and I laughed more at scenes from that then I did from the actual finale. Chad |

QUOTE(jferris @ May 11 2005, 09:10 PM) Chad - I send the index card along with a handwritten letter and SASE for each one. I am still pretty new to it. Everyone that I sent to, I am a fan of - so I am really writing a fan letter to start. I then tell them about my project to get signed index cards so that I can frame them along with a photograph for my office wall. So far, I have sent out eight and gotten four back. No "Return to Sender" or "Refused" so far, so I am still holding out hope for the remaining four. This weekend, I think I am going to try for some of the Negro League players that I have addresses for. The hardest part is choosing who to send to. :-) --Joseph Joseph, Sounds cool. The only reason this caught my eye was because of the name Sparky Anderson. Even though they are a horrible team now, the Reds were and always be my favorite team. I remember when I was little, a neighbor used to sit outside with his radio and of course the Reds game would be on. I'd sit out there and listen for as long as my mom would let me and then the next day bug the guy asking him if the Reds had won the night before. Most of the time, the answer was a resounding "Yes". QUOTE(bob_TCC @ May 5 2005, 12:07 PM) Well, I managed to miss this. Anyway, from the radio this morning, it sounds like the phone records and messages were the best "evidence" that they presented. Everything else was not really supported by anything other than people's stories. Is that an accurate summary? By the way, isn't it convenient that Clark is getting ready to release a CD? -Bob Bob, Yes...pretty accurate. He did name her dogs, showed her house and described a couple of the rooms inside the house, but I imagine you can get that anyway. They also asked about his motive...for the CD...or the book which he wants published as well. He said it had nothing to do with that. He justed wanted to clean the slate.....even if it meant dragging Paula into it. Chad |

QUOTE(bob_TCC @ Apr 30 2005, 12:58 PM) When I get a chance (not that often), I pretty much play Halo or Halo 2 on the Xbox. My oldest son and I cleared Halo, so now we try to play with multiple people (3-4 most of the time) with everyone for themselves. Anyone else use the "Live" feature on Xbox? -Bob Nope. Don't plan to anytime soon either. Chad |

QUOTE(bob_TCC @ May 4 2005, 11:13 AM) Same thing for me. Guess that's what happens when your site gets mentioned on CNN.com and you're not prepared for the high traffic. -Bob I thought that only happened if you were "Slashdotted" or "Screen Savered" (which I guess now would be "Attack of The Showed" ) Chad |

QUOTE(bob_TCC @ May 3 2005, 10:28 AM) Start of the story: "Two would-be idols with arrest records, one of whom also is guilty of felony cockiness. Allegations of judicial activism -- in the bedroom. A phone voting gaffe. Or was it a conspiracy?" Click here for the full story on CNN.com. How about the web site that is encouraging people to vote for Scott just because he is the worst? -Bob Odd, I went to the site listed in the article and it redirected me to some search page. |

QUOTE(Evolution @ Apr 24 2005, 02:17 PM) i just watched this today in the Uk and it was great, really fast paced and the characterised teams made it even better. Is there a dodgeball set allready, and if there isnt does anybody else think that this would make a good set? I watched this show a few times. I never laughed so hard. As for if they'd make a good set, it depends. If the maker were to make a profit, then I'd say yes otherwise no. Of course, if he were to split the set and come up with something like "The Ladies of Extreme Dodgeball" sets, I'm sure those would sell quite well! Chad |

I was on Ebay recently and just happened to search for "Baseball Cards". Holy cow! Mostly, I only purchase APBA (sports game not the boating) game related items along with video game items from Ebay so I was astonished at the number of listings for cards. Now some of them, are just plain ridiculous. There's no way I'm spending a million dollars on one card. If I had that kind of money, I wouldn't have a house payment every month. One thing that did catch my eye were the sellers selling 10,000 - 20,000 card lots starting at $200. The Ebay sickness nearly caught ahold of me until I told myself that I couldn't afford to be spending that kind of money right now either....regardless of the fact that it sounded like a good deal. Of course, the big turning point came when I noticed there weren't any pictures (I know you can't show every card, but a few would be nice along with a couple of shots of whatever the cards are stored in...This, coupled with the fact that there wasn't even any kind of listing...just some sort of blurb about "...at a penny apiece for the starting bid, this is a great deal..." and then something about a few of the cards being worth a dollar or more followed by a mention that according to Beckett, these cards would be worth $2700. So that struck a nerve. If their "worth" is that high, why is the BIN so low? Just didn't sound right. Have any of you purchased cards from Ebay? Just single ones? Sets? Larger lots as I mention above? Share your experiences below. Chad |
