Picked this up at a charity auction last week. Got caught trying to bid it past the market value. Thought for sure someone would bid higher since it was a charity auction. It's available. PM me. The lithograph is autographed. This was part of a limited collectible run out of 1000. Information card is #ed 515. COA is behind the lithograph in the frame.

Cool. Nice that the '74 Highlights card (1975 #2) is a well "loved" card.

Reminds me I really need to attend to all my binders and get my mostly unorganized batch of cards organized.
*

It's so well-loved that the back is separating from the front halfway up the card. It was part of my dad's collection that was passed on to me. I'm guessing my older brother got ahold of it when he was a kid.

I'm in the process of getting my binders in order. It's a huge task, especially since I have all those cards from the wall that need a home. Thanks for looking!

Passed just shy of 2 months after his 42nd birthday. He had been sick for a few years beforehand, rumored either syphilis or tuberculosis. Was shot in the face by a friend while hunting during that time. He survived, but lost an eye, his face was paralyzed on one side, and he became a recluse. Reports say he succumbed to insanity during the last year of his life.

If you notice, his wife was only 47 when she passed. Be thankful for modern medicine.

Learned recently that, Pioneer of Baseball and single season record holder for wins by a pitcher (59 or 60 depending on who you believe), Old Hoss Radbourn is practically buried in my back yard. Going to swing over to the cemetery on my way home from my oldest son's baseball game this afternoon to pay my respects and snap some pics. It's going to be the beginning of In Memoriam, a new set of feature articles on my blog where I travel the country seeking out tombstones of big league players.

congrats on the "decade-nt", you are a fine trader and even better human in my opinion! I look forward to meeting you and your family some day.

There are a lot of folks i miss here and honestly some i dont.

I think the remaining folks who visit regularly are a fine group of collectors in one form or another. Sure I wish there were more but it is what it is and I am always thankful for what i got.

Some of the crew stopped collecting, some grew up got jobs got married had kids took pauses etc., some Died that is the way of this thing called life.

So yes "Collect Hard!" wink.gif

Yep. Change is inevitable. It isn't necessarily better or worse.......it's just different. I agree the regulars here are a fine group. The ones who have stayed realize this site is about more than just trading and collecting, but also about community and that's something you don't really see in the other forums.

One positive: scammers don't waste their time in here anymore.

I just realized that I rolled past the decade mark in January.....it got me to thinking how much I've changed and how much this site has changed.

I'm a transplant from Sports Card Sheriff. I was only on that site for 3 months before TCC took it over. The only person I remember from there is Chuck17. He was here for a bit, but I haven't seen him on any board in recent memory.

When I first started on these sites, I was all about the business. My goal was the bottom line. Owned some nice stuff.....sold some nice stuff......wish I had back some of the stuff that I sold. But that's the way it goes. Got married, took a break, had a kid.....re-upped on all about the bottom line only to be screwed over by Paypal (long story.....makes me wonder if bearcat might have been telling the truth though).....took some time off.....started the Wall of Cards project with my youngest son....he was 2 at the time.....now I don't really care about the value of the cards, rarely look at Beckett, tend to guesstimate on values when making trades, and tend to be more concerned with the stories behind the players on those cards, especially the forgotten players and whozits.

When I come out of my head, I look around here and it seems like an empty house, a shell of its former self and full of memories. I'll never forget the late nights hanging out with Johnny5, making deals, talking sports and music.

I'll never forget Dodgerblue's stories about packlets.

I'll never forget some of the complete knockdown, drag out fights that were had in the politics forum.

I'll never forget Mister_x always stirring the pot...only to get suspended and then come back and do it all over again.

Or the positive leadership and examples of aceecards, RGBII, road_runner_63, Tarasadie, and bajmurray. Kids, if you want to learn how to be men, these are the names you should seek out.

Most of all, I really miss seeing "Collect Hard!" at the end of posts.

It's been fun the past 10 years. I hope I get to say the same in another 10.

Collect Hard!

My oldest son's high school held a charity gala last night. They had a lot of nice auction items. A couple caught my eye and I knew I'd be coming home with one of them. The first item I was looking at was the more significant of the two items: a lithograph depicting and signed by The Four Horsemen of Notre Dame. Unfortunately, the bidding got a little too rich for my blood. Instead, I came home with the more eye-appealing of the two items and 1/3 of The Holy Trinity of Notre Dame Football.

Bill Paxton has passed at age 61 due to complications from surgery.

I'll best remember him for his portrayal of Morgan Earp in the movie "Tombstone" and as Avery McCoy in the History Channel's docudrama "Hatfields & McCoys."
