QUOTE(mjda @ Jan 18 2013, 11:37 PM)
There really is no single person, or specific group of people, who can be blamed for the decline of activity. It's really just a combination of a lot of things.

This is correct, but what gets annoying is that lots of people and posts in this topic seem to put all of the blame on the CZT here as the reason for the decline, which as we all know is nowhere near the reality of the situation. That being said it is time to move on from Bob and make this site fun and the "community" it once was.

Wow talk about some old faces returning. Honestly, my belief falls in the line of Ilovetheheat when it comes to why alot of the members left. But it wasnt the CZT as a whole, it was two (and occasionally a third) that I felt overreacted to completely miniscule issues and were very inconsistent when dealing with members. For example at one point I was called an "emo child" told to "Get out of the sandbox" and that same member posted on the message boards while I was suspended that I was harrassing him (baseless claims). That member wasn't disciplined for his remarks but I was suspended for responding to them. And when he made the baseless claims of harrasment, the member was neither disciplined nor was the post edited by the CZT. It just seemed like complete favoritism. I mean, I can admit that my suspensions were probably somewhat warranted. I mean, my first suspension was 30 days (reduced to 14) which still seemed rather high considering I had never been warned prior to that and the typical procedure at TCC was the infamous 72 hour suspension. I wasn't the only one that happened to but they ALL happened to members who were under the age of 18. When you start breaking standard operating procedure and single out the teenagers, what do they do, they rebel, and thats what happened. Most of them left, some stayed on, but the ones that stayed on were clearly not bringing the same attitude that they had previously bought. And clearly, its the under 18 crowd that is making the hobby grow. We all found other sites like FCB that catered more to our wishes at that time (the discussions were dramatically less filtered) and thats what happened. This isn't a critique, this is just stating what happened and I'm sure theres plenty of members who were younger, maybe not even under 18, but were younger members of the site who can back me up on this. And for the record, this started brewing while Bob was still around.

Alex, I think the filtering was and will always be here, that was Bob's design at being "family friendly" and making TCC an atmosphere where an 8 year-old can come and go without learning new words, etc. I thought most posts were pretty clean, however, there were people who pushed those boundaries. Additionally, people started including images where decisions had to be made on what is exactly "family friendly". It is a tough line to follow as what is acceptable to one, may not be to someone else. I agree some CZT got drawn into battles, but I also think there were times where they pushed to the limit. Either way all of that is in the past and off topic. None of that fixes TCC or helps chopinalex find Bob.
