With this year being Topps 50th anniversary for the Topps FB brand (see this thread for the press release and more details), it seems like a good time to look back over the Topps sets from 1956-2005 and list your favorites.

Feel free to share as many as you like along with a brief explanation of why that set is on your list.

1993 Topps and 93 and 94 Topps Stadium Club. Not too many high dollar cards in those sets.....but the reason they're my favorites is because they were the first sets I ever completed!!!!! Up to that point I had gotten started on numerous other sets but never finished them. I became a set collector for a couple of years after that and then my interest changed from sets to player and team sets.

My personal favs go back into the 70's

I loved the 1972 set with cards that were both sideway and upright. Great cards well designed, informative backs.

I also love the 1973 or 74 set in particular the rookie card of Franco Harris and Joe Namaths card. Just great photos.

The cards I hate are all the "tallboys" issues from the mid sixties.

As a note I also have the complete set of posters and game cards issued in the early 70's in packs usually 1 of each per back. Bart Starr was a 15 yard loss!

My favorite Topps Card of alltime is still my Walter Payton rookies. Nobody wanted payton, nobody had heard of him. I traded away commons to acquire them from friends. Now they are all crying in their beers. I currently have 42 of these cards. 15 or 20 of them are gradeable quality None are for sale..

I have a feeling that many of us will answer this question based somewhat on when we really started collecting football cards. For me, this means that some of the early 80s sets are on the list. wink.gif
