Fort Worth, Texas, Police have recovered the vintage racing suit, once worn by Dale Earnhardt Sr., which was stolen last month from a locked closet at Texas Motor Speedway.
The firesuit, which Earnhardt wore a decade ago while making his first testing runs at the then-new speedway, was given by Earnhardt to TMS president, Eddie Gossage.
Police investigators determined that the theft was committed internally. The investigation was confirmed when the attorney of a part-time TMS employee contacted Fort Worth Police Major Crime unit detectives. The attorney asked to discuss the theft and the return of the racing suit.
Investigators met with the attorney yesterday, and the suit, a helmet and a pair of racing shoes were recovered. Police are preparing a case to be presented to the Denton (Texas) County District Attorney's Office to file appropriate charges associated with the theft.
The recovered racing suit was returned to Mr. Gossage this morning at Fort Worth Police Headquarters.

Heard on the news today, they got the suit back. I think person who stole it turned himself in. I can't remember the details.
