I know this isn't a card, but I got this signed IP on Saturday at the Trent Tucker Celebrity Golf Classic in MN. It was raining, but it still was worth it.

It is a 16x20

QUOTE(bigalexx @ Aug 28 2008, 12:38 AM)
I prefer not to stalk the players for autographs.

Also I agree with Steve, about the Authentication and having to buy the ball, case, etc...
*

OK, I have gotten all of my autographs from sitdown signings in MN with the exception of the Hamiltons which took a lot of waiting and what not, but was worth it by a lot. (I actually bought the Billingsley, but that was more of an investment) Plus what is wrong with going to game early, standing by the dugout or wherever and asking for an autograph?

Why do you need authentication? If I know I am keeping the item, why would I buy authentication?

Ball= $9 if you buy a case online
Case= $2 for a really nice one
Cost of getting the auto= Depends on player and when you get him. In MN, the most expensive line at Twinsfest is 25 and that is for the HOFers (Killebrew and Carew) It is 15 for Mauer, Morneau, and older players. Not expensive. And there are always free signings.

And with cards, don't you have to buy a case for your cards?

If you buy a UV protected case, it is safe to display balls. I have a link for a great price if you need it. Pm me if you do.

QUOTE(19th Century Indiana Jones @ Aug 27 2008, 10:53 AM)
Many of us do not live in a museum-sized mansion and have the space to display full-fledged memorabilia. Cards take up less space for those of us who still live in grass huts, like me. And, at work, a single nice card can be displayed on a desk as an accent rather than have  one piece of memorabilia as a centerpiece which may detract from the objectives of the workplace - unless you happen to work for a memorabilia company. smile.gif

I understand what you are saying, but space and money are the two things which would constitute someone to buy multiple pieces of memorabilia.

*

I understand the space. That can be hard to find. Not sure what you are saying on the money though? Money to buy a big house or what? I think memorabilia costs less than cards if you get it yourself. If you buy it online, then it can be expensive.

I also understand that where you live, you don't have an oppurtunity to get autographs from players.

btw, I don't live in a mansion. I wish I did though smile.gif

I am more of a memo kind of guy. Signed baseball, photos, helmets, etc. I am wondering why you guys prefer cards? Here is why I prefer memo.

1. You can get it yourself. You don't have to buy boxes, or singles on ebay to get stuff. You can buy cheap unsigned stuff and get signed yourself.

2. It looks better displayed. I don't see how you display cards, but I love how pictures and balls display. Here is my collection

Once I get more frames, Killebrew, Carew, Blyleven 8x10s will go above the Killebrew 16

user posted image

I forgot to take a picture of my fireplace with Dean Smith, Big Al, Brewer 8x10s are and some bballs are there too

3. You have more of a connection with the item if you got it in person instead of buying it on ebay or whatever.

4. It costs a lot more money to buy cards over memo.

There are more but I forgot them. So please, answer my question. Why cards over memo?

Note- This is nothing personal against any single person on this board or anyone who collects cards. I have always wondered and hoping someone will answer this. Thanks

I am waiting for an SPX auto redemption of Clayton Kershaw. I redeemed it mid-June and I am getting kind of antsy.

Has he signed or am I screwed? I don't deal with cards much.

I just picked up a Clayton Kershaw redemption card from 08 SPX. What should I do? Sell on ebay, or redeem it? Please share any advice
