Collector Zone _ Football Group Box Break Marketplace _ The cheapest case break you've (likely) ever seen!

Posted by: WestCoastSkinsFan Mar 1 2013, 09:49 PM

I've always been intrigued with inexpensive cases. Getting an entire case for the cost of a high-end box? Seems pretty cool to me. And the chance to get a piece of a whole case for $3? Seems even cooler.

So, I'd like to introduce my first non-monthly group break: a 12 box case break of 2006 Hot Prospects Football. 36 autos and GU, and plenty of inserts and RCs to go around.

Has the 2006 rookie class gone downhill? Sure! But there are still some great things in these boxes. Veteran autos like Peyton and Eli Manning, Roethlisberger, Favre, Elway, Tomlinson, Jason Witten, Vick, and Philp Rivers. Rookie autos of guys like Vernon Davis, Brandon Marshall, Santonio Holmes, Jones-Drew, Cutler, Reggie Bush and Mario Williams. Plenty of good stuff!

This will be an auction format with a $3 minimum bid per team. Minimum bid increases are only $1. Bid are currently as follows:

TEAMS:

AFC East
Buffalo Bills - $4, bajmurray PAID
Miami Dolphins - $7, Gadsden86
New England Patriots - $8, bajmurray PAID
New York Jets - $10, sahetu PAID

AFC North
Cincinnati Bengals - $6, northicehero99 PAID
Baltimore Ravens - $10, Schickfaced PAID
Cleveland Browns - $6, northicehero99 PAID
Pittsburgh Steelers - $15, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID

AFC South
Indianapolis Colts - $20, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID
Tennessee Titans - $10, Boston5761 PAID
Houston Texans - $8, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID
Jacksonville Jaguars - $20, batman1641 PAID

AFC West
San Diego Chargers - $20, batman1641 PAID
Denver Broncos - $31, batman1641 PAID
Kansas City Chiefs - $5, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID
Oakland Raiders - $4, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID

NFC East
Dallas Cowboys - $7, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID
Philadelphia Eagles - $6, bajmurray PAID
New York Giants - $13, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID
Washington Redskins - $3, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID

NFC North
Chicago Bears - $10, sahetu PAID
Detroit Lions - $6, batman1641 PAID
Minnesota Vikings - $10, road_runner_1964 PAID
Green Bay Packers - $45, road_runner_1964 PAID

NFC South
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - $4, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID
Atlanta Falcons - $7, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID
New Orleans Saints - $20, road_runner_1964 PAID
Carolina Panthers - $10, WestCoastSkinsFan PAID

NFC West
St. Louis Rams - $6, northicehero99 PAID
San Francisco 49ers - $15, MWS PAID
Seattle Seahawks - $4, bajmurray PAID
Arizona Cardinals - $10, nuhuskers PAID

Total: $360

The bidding will end with the bid that pushes the total to, or past $360.

THE RULES:

A winning bid entitles you to every auto, GU, RC, insert and serial numbered card for your team. You'll also get one of each base for your team, to help cut down on shipping costs. Cards go to the team listed on the card, not the team they currently play for (For example, Peyton goes to the Colts, not the Broncos).

For cards with multiple teams, the following rules apply:

1) If a person owns more teams than anyone else represented on a card (2 teams on a triple auto, for example), they will get the card.
2) If it's an even split (everyone owns one team), we will randomize the winner of the card via random.org among the represented teams.

Shipping is INCLUDED in the cost of a winning bid, EXCEPT for bidders outside of the US. Please add $5 to your total (not per team), as shipping costs outside of the US recently increased substantially.

Payments are only accepted by PayPal!

Thanks for joining me, everyone. Packages shipped out this weekend, so keep an eye out. They should be arriving shortly.

Any thoughts on other inexpensive cases that people might like to break down the road?

That'd be a bit rich for this type of break, at least for me. That's over 3 times the cost.

2009 UD Philadelphia 14 box case for about $500. I know it's more than this case, but it's also 14 boxes.

1 auto, 2 relics per box and the auto checklist isn't bad at all.
Each case will have 2-3 buybacks (which is just cool all on it's own), a Chicle auto, and a 5x7 auto. Short prints galore. Yes, there are non-sport subsets, but they can be randomed or equally distributed if people want them (or, you could even sell a spot for just the non-sport subsets). Rookie class isn't terrible.

Take a look at the checklist. Big name auto possibilities.

That's more my speed. Good idea!

Yeah, I like sets like this... And I think the autos are on card, too, which is great.

I was not thrilled with the hits from my box I opened of this, but I did like the base product and was messing with the set. There are way too many sps between the rookies and the odds subsets to build it out of a few boxes.

I would be interested, just wondering how much interest you will get as you will need roughly an average of $16-17 per 32 team format to get to a goal of $500 and there are only 42 "on average" hits to be expected or 1.3 per team if every team were to receive a hit. I liked the 06 HP just because of the odds of getting a hit was good no matter what team you picked, even if a good bit of the hits were not worth much.

If it goes by bid, I can see some teams going for $5 and some going for $50 (it's a gamble that the AP, Mannings, et al auto hits, however). I think we'd have to break down the checklist and see what teams have more hits, which teams don't (and in that case, perhaps merge team spots for those). I would almost be interested in just a non-sports slot to build those subsets.

I like the 2011 Upper Deck Sweet Spot for $455.

36 auto's per case!

I didn't even realize that we'd need a non-sport slot for Philly. Forgot about all of those SPs.

Not a big fan of Sweet Spot from that year, by the way. A lot of damaged cards right out of the box and the quality of the cards in general was sub-par

I like Philly more, but I think there were a decent number of redemptions in that set, and if so, we're out of the range of having those redeemed.

Regardless, I don't think this will be something I do right away. At least a few months down the road so I can recover, and my wife can forgive me for breaking 15+ boxes in 3 days.
