Let's try something different...

I have $250 to spend on unopened boxes and I want your input on which boxes to buy. The boxes can be from any sport and any year.

Now, here's the key point...

The goal is to maximize the return on this purchase and keep this going as long as possible. In other words, I'm going to buy $250 worth of boxes, open the boxes and then sell the cards (except for whatever goes into my personal collection). Then, we'll see how much is available to spend on the next group of boxes. Will the amount go up or go down? That might just depend on how well the boxes are selected!

So, here's your chance to spend my money! Please provide your list of boxes to purchase with the $250 along with explanations as to why you believe each box would be a wise use of the available money.

Let's have some fun with this and see what we learn (good or bad) along the way!

It will be interesting to see the different approaches that are taken. For example, some will likely suggest multiple products while others will likely suggest one high-end box. Some will likely suggest products they "like" while others will provide eBay sales data to support their suggestions. The different ideas are what should make this fun!

Of course, opening the boxes via LIVE video will be part of this and then related discussions on where and how to sell various cards.

Lots and lots of things are involved with this one!

On the surface, certain things would be easier to know. However, are they?

For example, what sells best - baseball, basketball, football, hockey or racing?

By the way, as many of you know from hanging out here, many of the things related to this concept are not along the lines of my normal process. I open boxes for fun - and only fun - and end up keeping cards for years and years. The idea of opening boxes and immediately selling the cards might take a little time for me to get used to.

However, there's certainly others within the hobby that take this approach and take it often. So, I'm hoping this will be a learning experience as well - just not sure what we're going to learn yet.

Reason:
2 Game Used and 1 Auto per box on average, and Upper Deck has some pretty nice autos in there. You could also pull a Rookie Nameplate.

2005 Bowman's Best X2
Price: 47.99 X 2 = 95.98
Reason:
4 Autos per box and you could pull some autos of some of the big name rookies like Shawn Merriman, Frank Gore, Braylon Edwards. You could also pull some NFL superstar autos. I pulled a Big Ben auto in my break!

2007 Leaf Rookies and Stars
Price: 78.99
Reason
You are guaranteed 4 autos or game used per box. If you pull one of those Patch Auto rookie things, it should be able to sell well.

2007 Topps Draft Picks and Stars
Price: 34.99
Reason
At least 1 g/u per box and autos coming every other box. I picked this because I needed something cheap to get to $250 but there is a lot of potential to get a big hit in this product.

Total Price: 248.95

My thinking is buy some less expensive products to maximize your chance for getting a big pull and paying for your boxes.

Or if you are feeling more riskier you could just buy 2 boxes of SP Authentic Football at 118.99 for $237.98. The patch autos sell really well!!!
