Great break, please let me know if you plan on moving the Kaline & Porcello

Wow although I am not a huge fan of rainbow foil, I have to give Topps credit for dramatically increasing the value to each box. This raises the questions of why the heck did it take so long and what kind of ridiculous margin did they have on it (assuming they haven't decided to turn TT into a loss leader!!!lolz1!11!!!!1). Thanks for sharing your break..

Amazing stuff. I bet the Strasburg was a 9 due to the L/R centering? Might be the picture but that's all I see on it.

the Blyleven on the other hand...I have no clue why its only a 7
*

Ya that Bert is a tad too minty for that grade. The dominos they signed on are the base from a replica statue that was put out by some fly by night. The numbering is not accurate to the product so there are far less in circulation than the #ing would suggest. Anyway, they sit at the base of the statue. Wish I had a pic to show you all. That Jeter is disgusting. I really think the product is cool. I wish companies would do more with actual vintage insertion.

Edit guess someone beat me to it.

Those cards with the map in the background are called international parallels and are 1 in 8 retail packs (not sure the hobby odds). Hope that answers your question adequately. I busted 4 of these and was fortunate enough to pull a Harper chrome, a Harper insert, and a couple refractors of decent players (purple B. Belt).

Don't have a problem with Greg.  He seemed to feel sorry for me and he doesn't like redemptions either.
I know the card was expired but it only expired a ocuple months ago.  I don't have a problem with the replacing it with something else if they didn't make the card.  My problem is they just picked some random card and sent it to me.  Why am I spending money on older boxes that are just garbage now?  I will see what happens today when I call back.  I have already filed a dispute with the BBB.  And I also asked for replacement for all my current redemptions with UD because I am going to close my account after this.  And I will never buy another box of UD again.
*

To your knowledge was that card ever used to advertise the original product? It is a big enough card that it could have been used as a selling point. Did it appear on the final sell sheet? If either of these is the case then I would focus on that aspect with the BBB. It is a bit like the case where Macdonald's advertised a big prize (1mil I think) and then didn't issue a winning ticket. Only this time the ticket was issued, but the prize was never produced. I am shocked that the CS agent you originally spoke to willingly admitted that the "prize" was never produced. That is as good as a confession right there. They do clearly state that expired redemptions are invalid so I would focus on that non-existent prize aspect. Best of luck man! The ugly risk you take when buying redemption laden older products.

It was a nice break, but what was in the loose pack? You only listed 6 hits and there should be a minimum of 7. Also if your box was 3 relics and 3 auto/relics you may have a claim as I thought this year's product was 4 and 2. I split a box and ours was 4 and 2 and previous breaks I have seen were 4 and 2. I don't condone needless complaining, but on a high-end like this you better get everything that is advertised even with the Pujols (because you know Topps wouldn't be sending you a Pujols if you pulled 6 Melvin Mora's as your requisite 6 guaranteed hits). Not sayin'...just sayin'!

Supposedly UD will be coming out with a program to honor expired redemptions in the very near future so don't lose heart. What was the redemption for?

It's upside down, but it's got the middle of the E and the backside of the B (which is the confusing part) since it has the little piece that sticks out the back of the middle of the B which you wouldn't normally think of.

Anyway, nice break!

Darn you beat me to it. I just went to check if their B overlaps and indeed it does! So yeah definitely backward (upside down) patch there. Nice catch.

Hmmmmmm...well they do do (lol I said DO DO in a post about Panini) some stuff with commemorative jerseys. Sometimes players at the premier even wear each other's jerseys. I see what you are saying. At first blush I just passed it off as the "E" in TEBOW but it is certainly not that as the patches are the white part not the red.

I mean NT isn't bad, I got a good deal ($350). Those patch autos (Damian Williams and Hardesty will sell for 150 plus), imagine if you pull a Bradford or Tebow patch out of 99 (They're selling for 800 plus.)
*

Sell sell sell because it won't be long before D. Williams and M. Hardesty (barring big years) are selling for sub $50. When people realize how much Panini increased production the values will precipitously plummet. Thanks for sharing your break.

NT is complete garbage this year. I didn't think Panini could outdo themselves after last year's disasterpiece but they did. They upped the production run which leads to more of those garbage no-name rookie boxes. It also leads to RPA's falling about 2 per 3 boxes and the rest of the box being cheap looking jersey cards. With Topps having a full period to compete this year (instead of being rushed by a last minute license renewal) I fully expect for them to bury Panini across the board. Panini has repeatedly burned every level of collector with nondescript card designs and a complete lack of design effort. I have already spoken with my wallet and saved the $2500 I would normally have reserved for Donruss products. It is showing more and more each day that Panini views their customers as sheep who will continue to consume non-innovative, poorly conceived, production line fodder. I am just glad you were able to luck out and pull a card the should recover the value of your box. Consider yourself among the elite 10%!

Sauce cakes?!?! Isn't the point of a good sauce to not cake? The liquified nature of sauces in general would lead to poor cakeablity, one might surmise. If you do achieve a proper cake using only sauce please let me know. I fancy myself a sauce connoisseur and would love a nice thick s slice!

Why they "retired" the holoview technology I will never understand. I suppose either profit margin wasn't enough, or some company who actually created the tech issued a quiet cease and desist. A shame one way or the other as the cards really are something to marvel at. Thanks for sharing your break with us G.

He has already been offered 5k so I am guessing the 2k is a little low there. Would be fun to see what it brings in a 7 day auction (w/reserve if scared or without reserve if you really have a pair). I am guessing it would far exceed 5k. Since the 5k offer is already on the table it is likely to draw even more. Definitely take some serious pics as better pics lead to better auction outcomes.

Sorry about that Justin.  I've had that happen a couple times in 2006 with Fleer Ultra Blasters from football.  I tried taking them back as I opened them in the car, but trying to explain it to the manager was like teaching physics to a 4 year old.  She didn't get the concept of what I was explaining to her.  I guess she couldn't grasp the concept that 1988 Topps and 1991 pro set weren't the same as 2006 Ultra.

Thanks, Matt
*

That is hilarious in a sad way because that is basically what happened to me in that I tried to show that a blaster would not be filled with a paper towel and cards trademarked in 92. Oh well, I won't make that mistake again...I hope.

They did an incredibly good job of resealing the blaster. I don't think most would notice it. As for return, target has a very strict receipt only return policy and I shredded the receipt as it included my whole check card number(I hate when businesses don't do the simple task of switching their machine to only show the last 4 digits). You don't expect to be returning a blaster when you purchased it for yourself. The criminal must have put it on a scale because its weight felt identical to other ultra blasters. Anyone need 30 91-92 Palfeys? Lol. M0j00000!!1!!11!!!!

The irony in your title was not lost on me (even if unintentional). You put 3 limited and 1 platinum when it was actually 3 absolute. That is perfect since Panini's products all kind of bled together into one big foilboard mess this year. Many cards in each set are nearly indistinguishable from cards in other sets. In a couple years a large portion of collectors will look back and not be able to determine which set half their cards came from. Unfortunate, really. Thanks for the laugh (even if unintentional) and thanks for sharing your breaks! Oh, and I am glad to see pwo's macro posted an appropriate assessment this time smile.gif .
