Nice! I especially like that Kisses card!
Thanks Rob. I like his huge bat.
i know it pales in comparison to most others have, but its my favorite
Sure thing Willy
A lot of people have modern day player collections. Since I don't collect modern day players, I started a pre-war card collection of players named Hogan (my last name) shhh don't tell anyone. The Exhibit card I won on Ebay last year for a 50th birthday present to myself. The Home Run Kisses I bought on a pre-war message board. The cards run from 1887 in poor condition to that card and one or two other graded cards. I have about 30 cards with people named Hogan in all kinds of sports from lacrosse to jockies to boxing and baseball. It took me a while to find that Exhibit card I could afford. I've seen them from $350 to $1250 on Ebay, dealer catalogs and vintage websites.
It's not a card as in the traditional since....just a real photo postcard.
(hope this shows)

74 Topps "Say Hey" Willie Mays (Last card made of him)
72 Topps Roger "I have no idea what his nickname is" Staubach
Another RPPC I picked up that I know little about other than "Sept. 20, 1909 lost 12-5" Mailed in Ohio and sent to Masontown , PA
Still working on the Leetonia team...
Willy.. good to see you posting. It's from the Turkey Red T-3 series from about 1910. I picked it up in a trade here on TCC. My great grand father had the first Pope-Hartford dealership in Worcester Massachusetts.
My mother tells me he was the first car dealer in Worcester. They sold Pope-Hartford automobiles. That were produced in Connecticut. Here's a website about the http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z10060/Pope-Hartford-Touring.aspx
1887 Allen and Ginter N28 #15 Joe Lannon
Picked this up several months ago at the Collector's Showcase of America show in Chantilly, Virginia.

I only have one real vintage vintage, and I'm pretty sure you've seen it already, but:
Ken Williams was the first ever 30-30 hitter.
Clearly I ....uh....didn't buy it for the condition.
Nice cards guys.
Now that's real vintage. Beautiful cards there!
Know these ain't the purdiest vintage on the block....but here we go. 1962 Salada Plastic and Shirriff Plastic Coins....
It's very relaxing for me to see these vintage items.
Oh maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan...... Now I have to see which set that came from and then try to obtain the set.....
1935 Al Demaree Die Cut
Nice!!! Is that a cut out or a pre cut?
Hi Willie. Glad to see you stopping by. The book I have says it was a fold over kind of card with a tab. Not like a cut out or punch out card.
I'm sporting it as my Avatar. 1909-11 Hooks Wiltse. Yeah boooyyyeee.lol
It's in very good condition and I keep it hid in my private stash, w/ Griffey UD #1.
Sorry, no scanner, Piedmont back.

I'm originally from Worcester Mass. The Oval was originally built for track and field games. From 1893 to 1907 the New England Intercollegiate Games were held here. Other events included bicycle racing and Gaelic football games.
The first baseball team to use the Oval was the 1894 New England League Club and the last team was 1904 Connecticut League team the was transferred to Norwich, CT.
Currently the Oval is St. George's Cathedral, no signs of the park exist.
I tried my hand at a live auction and won this.
It says "403 Forbidden"
Vintage, an area I'm just starting to get into. Here we go!

Forgot the '57 Colavito RC
best condition vintage I currently own)
Condition to me in vintage is no matter to me. Nice cards. I'd rather have a hole in my card, that a hole in my collection.
For a long time this card was the "Oldest" card in my entire Trading Card collection (Sports and Non-Sports). I tell a bit about it on my http://captkirk42.blogspot.com
Nice beater card.
There's a vintage card site where cards in that conditon are called Tiptons. Because of the cards condition issues.
Thought this was a good place to share my latest pick up...
George Mikan RC;
Nice.
Ooooo. You should try to do a George Mikan collection.
I wish I had new vintage to show. What?
Ahh yes. Finally received my '51 Irvin RC today:
Then my '57 set....so far...

Blinding colors on those Bob.
These are the start of my vintage collection
The Ruth I believe is from a set in 63, not sure on the name, where the cards came in a booklet with many of the greats of the game. I have a few others from the set but the Ruth is by far my favorite.
Ben,
Found where the Ruth came from via http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Cards/Baseball/1961/Golden_Press/3/Babe_Ruth/1811126. 1961 Golden Press. Then did a Google search to verify in case comc was off on some of the info.
This auction site? shows the book cover http://sports.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=47051&lotNo=12214
Here is an online visual checklist. http://www.vintagecardtraders.com/virtual/61golden_press/61golden_press.html
It's a beautiful set.
Thank you Kirk for the info. I knew the set came from the early 60's just not exactly sure when. After looking at the virtual card collection I have more to the set than I thought at first. I think these cards are my favorites of my collection and always will be.
got some more goodies that came in today. I'll get scanner fired up here in a bit, and ready the scans!
Nice Thread
