For some reason, my scanner doesn't scan depth, it only scans clearly whatever touches the glass.

I have to use my old laptop because it won't work with Vista on my new one. They come out nicer in the loaders because it has little white spots from gunk on the inside over the years.

What are the settings?

I believe they are still on 200 dpi I try to make them good enough for a web site, but not the 1000dpi setting. It takes too long and they look worse a lot of times
