Sadly, I can no longer visit this site on my work computer. It, too, received the virus attack notice and, because of such, my workplace banned the site.

And since I work 70 hours a week, it's hard to find time to visit! Hopefully it gets resolved soon. Best of luck, all.

No big deal. Just taking a different path in life is all and cards aren't part of that future. I figure there's no point in me holding onto them when others can enjoy them.

First, we all want to give Ken (athopesend) a big congrats for being TCC's May Member of the Month.

Second, forgive me that it's being posted this way, but I went to create a new TCC Times but my computer's font book has been corrupted, and fonts aren't displaying properly or I can't use many of the fonts. Even web pages are looking weird!

But here it is! Hope you enjoy it it. I know I did. Josh (jwman92) did this write-up.

---

TCC has found its first celebrity, and it just so happens to be the May Member of the Month. Rockstar Ken (athopesend) was on the verge of a recording deal with his band, aptly named At Hope’s End, and is beginning his own solo career in the near future. Ken claims he is “twenty-nineteen” years old. Still clinging to his own childhood, he has used card collecting to connect with his step son. This has allowed him to spend an incredible four years on TCC, imparting his wisdom and showing off his collection to all of the other members.

Aside from his step-son, Ken’s family isn’t too supportive of his collecting habit \: “Well if you ask my wife ... she hates it, but she understands that its my hobby. I am slowly trying to get my brother to start collecting but as of now, everything he has came from me”

Ken doesn’t like to classify his collection, but he collects Raiders (in Raiders uniform), along with Score and Select parallels. He has begun to dabble in the entertainment world, starting collections in LOST and Supernatural card sets. However, he also has a few choice basketball and hockey players that he will pick up from time to time.

However, if you ask Ken what his favorite card is, it doesn’t come from any of the sets he mentioned. While it may not be his most valuable, Ken’s Adam West relic is his favorite card, because of his love for Batman.

Ken loves to open packs, but gets more enjoyment from pulling a card for his Raiders PC than he does from pulling a high value card. He loves acquiring cards from TCC members in trades, and wants to give a special shout-out to Jer123Pat123. He has completed an incredible 253 transactions in the time he has spent on TCC. Ken hopes that one day he can pass his collection on to his kids, but TCC is glad to have him right now!

Here are some pictures Ken sent us to use with the Member of the Month:

I'd like to share with you all links to this acoustic solo project I've been working on for a while.

The "band" is called Prizefighters All! and I began it late last year. Began as a duo, but my friend couldn't devote the time to it. So, after some time figuring out what I wanted to do, I decided to just put my best foot forward and see where it got me.

If you'd be so kind, check out the following links, each with songs on them (or click the images in my signature).

Check out the Prizefighters All! Facebook Fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Prizefighter...119456158074740
There, you can listen to music, see news updates and become a fan by "Liking" the page.

Then, there's the Prizefighters All! ReverbNation page: http://www.reverbnation.com/prizefightersall
There, you can listen to songs, read lyrics, check out status updates, latest show information and more.

I'd also really appreciate your opinions on the music. Feel free to comment on everything from the lyrics to vocals (I know, they suck tongue.gif), from the song arrangement to the mix!

It's much appreciated, all. Thanks for your time!

The TCC Collector Zone Team, Content and Graphics Team and Membership Team would like to send a huge congratulations to Johnny_Number_5 for being TCC's April Member of the Month!

This month, we decided to take a different take on Member of the Month. Instead of a write-up, we gave John the option of creating a video for us. The brave soul he is, he agreed!

Josh (jwman92) edited the video and here is the result:

Johnny_Number_5's MOTM video

And with that video marks the debut of TCC's Member of the Month YouTube Channel: TCCNow! Add us as a friend and comment away on the video!

Below is a questionnaire we sent John, so enjoy watching the video and reading his answers!

- Full name: John Frank English
- Age: 29
- Username: Johnny_Number_5
- How long have you been on TCC? Three years.
- How did you find TCC? Just searching for cards in a Yahoo search! I found Bob's TCC video on YouTube where he opened a box of Triple Threads with a huge knife.
- If you could change one thing about TCC, what would it be? Nothing, TCC is awesome the way it is!
- How long have you been collecting? During my younger years from age 5 until about 15, then I stopped for a while and luckily found TCC. So, hardcore collecting since about 3 years ago.
- Why do you collect? I love holding the game in my hands. Whether baseball, football, or even a lil basketball, it's awesome having these cards up close.
- What kind of collector are you? Player, team, set, general, etc. Right now I'm a bit of everything. I team collect Saints and Mets. I player collect Devery Henderson #19 WR of the Saints. I have about 30 autos of him right now. Plus I do some sets, Allen and Ginter since 2006, most Bowman Chrome/Draft and Prospects and Press Pass and Sage since 2006.
- What got you into collecting? The NY Mets - HEHEH, and friends up in Binghamton, NY, on Oak Street!
- What is your favorite piece? WOW, hmmm, right now my Devery Henderson SPA Patch auto. Why? He is my favorite player, nuff said!
- Dream card? Hmmm... David Wright, Gary Carter, Willy Mays, Casey Stangel Quad Patch Auto fold-out card.
- Best card you ever pulled? I only pull base!
- Any trading regrets? Trading a Jason Heyward X-Fractor for a Philip Humber auto... Yeh, don't ask hahahaa!
- If you could design a card, what would it be? Hmm, most likely a sweet Devery Henderson NFL Logo patch fold out with a Sweet Spot-type auto helmet on the other side. A 1/1 of course!
- What do loved ones think of your collecting? HA, they say "Isn't that for kids?" I show them what the box costs and they tell me I am crazy. But, they know I love it, and it help me beat some addictions in my life, so I'm happy with it, and they support it!
- What do you hope to do with your collection one day? Display it on a huge, huge, huge, huge display on my wall!
- Any other hobbies? Walking, computers, education, and reading. I also enjoy hanging out in coffee shops drinking a nice triple shot lattee with skim milk and sugar free syrup!
- Any other interests? I was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I intend to change my life in the way of eating, living, and existing. I am educated about the disease, and I WILL BEAT IT! I have lost 30 lbs in 1.5 months on a new diet.
- Favorite movie? Probably "The Express" (Ernie davis Story), "The Blind Side" (Micheal Oher).
- Favorite band/song? Right now "Addicted" by Saving Abel, old Pantera, Niravana, techno, trance, etc. Music with a beat, that I can drive (Fast) to!
- Favorite food? Was sushi, but diabetes and carbs do not work. So, I guess steamed veggies on a nice spinach chicken wrap!

We're all members of the digital age, and we all traverse the great landscape of the Internet. Unfortunately, this landscape has its drawbacks, such as computer viruses and malicious content with the only goal being to infect your computers.

One of the recent trends and ways people are spreading harmful viruses and software is through unauthorized add-ons and extensions for Web browsers, such as Firefox add-ons. Although Firefox screens their add-ons quite well, some from non-Firefox affiliated websites can cause harm to your computer.

Another trend is through ads placed on websites. The scary thing about these harmful virsus/malware is you don't have to click on the ads to become infected, simply viewing the webpage with the ad on it can cause infection.

I'm bringing this up because I want the TCC community to be aware of things they can do to protect themselves, no matter what websites they visit. TCC has not had any confirmed attacks, so do not be alarmed. Below are some suggestions I have to make your computer safer, based on what I've found to be personal benefits.

• If you're running a Windows computer, make sure to have up-to-date anti-virus software. There are many companies in this field, some offering free software and some with yearly subscription plans. Many of these programs include adware/malware protection on top of traditional virus protection. My personal favorite is Trend Micro: http://us.trendmicro.com/us/home/

• If you have anti-virus software, use it! Run a weekly virus check, pay attention to the software's alerts, and stay up-to-date.

• If you're running an Apple computer or other Unix/Linux-based computer, the likelihood of an attack against you is less, but there are still versions of anti-virus software developed for your operating system.

• Determine if your Web browser is safe. If you're using Internet Explorer, I encourage you to find a different browser, as it's considered the most unsecure of the "big four" browsers. The top four browsers in terms of security are: Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer. I recommend Firefox, as it allows an amazing library of add-ons that help Web surfing more secure and fun (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html). Chrome is also becoming a household name. Developed by Google, it's the fastest browser out there, with some solid security features. However, it lacks the breadth of add-ons Firefox has (http://www.google.com/chrome).

• For users of Firefox, the following two add-ons are great at helping you keep your surfing experience secure:

- WOT, Web of Trust, plugs itself into your Web searches and lets you know if a website you're about to visit is safe, based on a number of parameters: http://www.mywot.com/en/download/ff. WOT is also available for Chrome and IE. Screenshots below:

And when you come to a malicious site (not TCC):
user posted image

- Another great Firefox add-on is Adblock Plus, which blocks all advertisements. Thus, it keeps your computer safe from malicious attacks that would otherwise spread through website ads: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

--

So, please, remember to mind your Internet P's and Q's: Educate yourself, use secure Web browsers and if a website looks fishy, move on wink.gif

Cheers, all!

Hey there!

Here, you will find an ongoing archive for The TCC Times, TradingCardCentral.com's "newspaper" for Member of the Month features.

Even though there was a gap in between publications, I think having an archive here would be a good idea, since people often wonder what earlier versions looked like and why the page says "Serving collectors since 2007."

So, here you go!

March 2007: Jeremy Duff (Luke2411)
May 2007: Mike Gutierrez (yankeesjetsfans)
March 2010: Stephen Bailey (sebredsox24)

QUOTE(captkirk42 @ Apr 1 2010, 09:03 PM)
Congrats!
I second that question. Also shouldn't it be "serving collectors since 2005?". I took it to mean that TCC has been serving members since 2005 I guess 2007 is Steven's start year?
*

<facepalm> Changed to March, haha.

And the "serving collectors since 2007" is in reference to The TCC Times. There were two issues in 2007, and that's also why this says issues three.

Are you sure the exact same thing happened to you? You went to https://www.paypal.com, and after logging in, a page loaded talking about security measures, then asking to verify either your credit card or bank account?

... I can't help but think of all the wonderful people I've met and have had the pleasure of getting to know.

I'm not going to name individual names, simply because I'd be embarrassed if I forgot someone! But as my membership on TCC turns 4 years old tomorrow, I just want to say thanks to everyone who has made TCC a great community.

There was a time where I spent some months away from the site, but I always thought about it and the people I befriended. Some might call it addiction, laugh.gif, but I call it affection. TCC was the first hobby related forum I joined, and it's always been home.

I'm looking forward to many more years, sharing this community and hobby with all of you.

So, I'm trying to send money to someone but when I log into my PayPal it says:

We are currently performing regular maintenance of our security measures. Your account has been randomly selected for this maintenance, and you will now be taken through a series of identity verification pages.

Protecting the security of your PayPal account is our primary concern, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

And it asks me for my credit card number or bank account number.

I'm afraid to put anything in! I don't know if the site's been hacked or what. Anyone else notice this?
