Collector Zone _ Ask the Experts _ Why would a Mets GU be green?

Posted by: bushidobard Feb 3 2021, 08:32 PM

I’ve been looking at some nice Dwight Gooden GU autos, and some of them either have white jersey with a green pinstripe or straight up green fabric.

The only cards I look at have him on Mets uni.

Any idea why?

In recent years many of the teams have been wearing green uniforms or green trimmed uniforms for St. Patrick's Day. However I don't think they were doing that when Gooden was playing. Maybe one of the Minor League farm teams had green?

Hey I didn’t even think of that. Tidewater did have green! Thanks!

I googled Dwight Gooden jersey and found this:

There is this post from December 31, 2008 about the green jerseys too:

Not sure if these were used when he played as not finding anything.
