Holmes Traded to Jets

Well Tannenbaum has something in common with Santonio now, he just committed a crime by robbing the Steelers in this trade...and that may have been the dumbest thing I have ever said...

crazy deal nonetheless.

Outstanding! The Jets are looking very very fierce right now. I think we're looking at a very strong season.

the jets do seem to be doing well , nonetheless is holmes for sure going to play this year ? Maybe the steelers knew something we didnt know ??

His future in Pittsburgh was done anyway. They said that if a deal wasn't reached in time, Holmes would be released. The absolute best they could have gotten for him was probably a late 3rd rounder or early 4th rounder.

If he gets ONE more Substance Abuse Policy infraction, he'll receive a full year suspension.

After weighing the facts, it seems to make a little more sense why the Steelers only got a 5th round pick. Like stated earlier, they were going to release Holmes if they didn't get a deal done. This way they could make sure Holmes didn't sign with a divisional rival. Also Holmes is just one more infraction from a year long suspension, and continued distractions to the Steelers. Holmes obviously hasn't shown a desire to change, so the Steelers decided it was best to move on. Now the question is how many more passes will Roethlisberger get.

I think Mike Wallace is ready to step in as the #2 WR. Also, high profile teams such as the Steelers, Patriots, and Colts that are contenders every year, just simply don't deal with mishaps like Holmes, and are not afraid to cut or trade a player like him.

The Rooney family had said that they planned on releasing him if they couldn't find a trading partener. I have also heard that Leon Washington may be added to the deal as well.

Limas Sweed should get a chance this summer in training camp now that there is an open spot on the depth chart
