At the urging of another member, I though I would post some of my favorite returns from some TTM I have done with my extra Allen & Ginter Cards. I started this project after I had seen some fantastic examples from members on this site.
Here are a few:
John "Mule" Miles
Moose Skowron
Olympic Swimming & Diving - My wife and I were both competive swimmers and that is how we met.
And, a non-sports card of PT Barnum signed by the Curator of his museum.
I was surpised how ballpoint pen looks much better on the cards than a Sharpie. The rest of them, 30+, are in my bucket. Thanks for looking and I'll post some more as they come in.
Zed, SLS
Very nice. I think these cards are the best looking for getting signed. i really like the non-sports cards too. those are also fun to get autographed.
Did you have to pay for Moose and Mule? (bad Russian accent available)
Man nice cards! That's a great idea!
Great idea, this will be a unique collection.

Those look tremendous signed, I actually stumbled upon a post on some other site a while ago where the guy had over 100 of those signed. They looked amazing. Best of luck to you, and I hope you get as many successes as possible.
nice dude thats really cool
Here is my first success for both years of a player:
Nice!! Those are SWEET!!! Could you possibly pm me the addy you used for John "Mule" Miles? thanks
Man these are awesome man!! These cards are perfect for TTM.
These are nice.
very nice stuff, congrats !!!
great looking collection. good luck
This is one I didn't expect to get back. I sent this during the postseason, and then he was traded. 124 days later it came back to me.
First Congrats on The Returns

My second 2-fer
First foreign auto.
After a bit of a drought, I got two in the mail today.
Very nice...
Number 50. Not a big fan of the silver sharpie, but a great return nonetheless.
Sweet.
I hope Topps does another A&G set this year.
I really like this card; it has a great signature, horizontal layout, & mini bazooka back.
Another just plain beautiful card.
Number 60
the cuddyer and the doerr are both just amazing
Great cards, these are the best for TTM in my opinion.
How can you not laugh when you say Putz?
Once again, great idea and congratulaions on the successes.

another nice one
I can understand a shorter signature if your last name has 14 letters.
These look great Fred. I really like the ones in blue. The Bob Doerr is probably my favorite. I know I keep saying it, but I'm going to have to do some of these.
Not a beautiful signature like some, but a neat return.
Congrats!! Very nice collection you got going!
Number 70: Joe B. Scott
I'm going to be redundant here...
Excellent idea and this will be a collection that I lust for.
Actually, it's already past that hurdle!
Congratulations!

another beauty
Beautiful cards and sigs. This is a great project. Continued success!
Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
Very nice successes! Keep it up!
Jim
Q. What is the only card more rare (rarer?) than one signed by Bob Feller?
A. One not signed by Bob Feller.
beautiful blue sig right over the name. id like to see a&g do an on card auto set like this
Amazing....
I have many signed from the Pacific Legends set 88, 89, 90, and would love to share it with you all, but I only know how to scan via camera phone
Anyway, good job on all the autos! The Feller one is my favorite.
Where do you get these addresses? I can't find them anywhere!
Amazing collection too!!!
To get the addresses, I go to other websites devoted to TTM collecting. I use www.sportscollectors.net and bought an address book at www.sportsaddresslists.com/.
Current players you can send care of the team's address.
I will also be repetitive and say this is a great-looking collection. Keep it up!

I'm moving over the summer, so I've stopped sending these out. This might be one of the last ones I see in awhile. Then again, there are another 74 cards out there waiting to be returned.
this has to be one of the BEST ideas ever!
Looks like I spoke too soon in anticipating a slow down. I got three in the mail today including:
This wasn't TTM and its a custom made by someone on another board.
This is fun!
Nice stuff
From a trade
WOW great collection
damond
I only have 1 Allen+Ginter signed card. I'm a big fan of Garret Anderson's I LOVE that one you have, Here are some Garret Anderson Signed cards and my one and only Allen+Ginter.
The same person that made the Ryne Sandberg card above also made a Travis Snider one for me.
Have I told you how cool this is?

Simply awesome collection dude! Keep up the great work.

Lookin' great!
Mr. Wood,
I'll say it once again.
A simply extraordinary collection. I am beyond impressed.
Collect Hard!, (that's really not necessary here, is it?)
RGBII
Thanks Richard! Here are a few more I got in the mail today, and yes you may see double on a couple of them.
Wow! Amazing collection! Thanks for sharing!!
Here is my most recent success:
I would have liked to have posted a Ty Wigginton success, but he swapped out my 2008 Allen & Ginter's for a random UD card.
Congrats on your fantastic set so far!
What are you planning to do about some of the new cards out like Bram Stoker or Marie Curie?
that fukumori is incredible!
How many days did you wait on the fukumori?
JasonS: I don't know what I'll do about them yet. I have seen others send the cards to actors that portrayed the historical figure in a movie, or a distant relative of the actual person.
Loodle37: It was 14 days for the Fukumori c/o Oklahoma RedHawks.
I haven't gotten many of the new ones out this week but here is a recent success:
I had a good day in the mail today.
My 100th card.
Here are some of my favorite recent returns:
Yet again, well done and congratulations.
Remarkable collection.

Richard, it means a lot coming from you.
Two more recent successes:
Two more.
Just stopped by....this is awesome!!
It has been a slow off-season thus far. But, there were two nice returns in the mail today.
Very nice!
Sorry for the bad scan, I am at my parents' house for the holidays.
very amazing collection to say the least really like the patrick auto
Awesome personalized Danica Fred!
these all look great!
Thanks for the kudos everyone.
thepickens: The Thome was sent to the White Sox back in August.
You knew that before long someone would be requesting
a photo of all of these together.
Well, the time has come and I am making the request.
Please give us a couple of photos of this collection in one
shot. I am really looking forward to it.
Well done & Collect Hard!,
RGBII
Richard, I'll post some on Monday after my holiday mail gets delivered. I've been thinking about how to display them all. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
artyman60 used the bed to display his amazing collection.
I just cleared out out some floor space.
I think the important thing to do is find the best lighting
that you can. If I had it to do over again, I would have
taken some close-ups of the more impressive ones.
Can't wait to see all of yours in one shot!

I meant a more permanent display than a shoebox. My wife has the camera and I'll take pictures later tonight. Here is one I got in the mail over the holidays to tide you until then.
Nice!
just got joey on the same card over the holidays as well
seems like a great and fast signer
congrats on the amazing collection so far
wish you continued success
steve and natasha
Man -I enjoyed that thanks for sharing it with us
OK at RGBII's request here are some pics of them all together, including the customs.
First by year:
2006
2007
2008
And all 118 of them:
Each card can be viewed in my photobucket album:
http://s183.photobucket.com/albums/x181/zedsls/Autos%20Allen%20and%20Ginter/
For this year, I would like to get some of the HOFers from the 2006 set that require a "donation." Also, I bought enough of the 2008 to build an almost complete second set, so I'll have plenty of extras to send out for Spring Training and the regular season. Thanks for your interest and hopefully I'll have more successes to post. Cheers!
Aw!, that is so cool.
That's an impressive display. Great idea and I
wish you continued success with it.

While I get ready for spring training, here is another non-baseball return.
wow!
This is one nice collection!!!!! I just about fell out of my chair when I saw the Thome autograph..................NICE!!!!!!!
do u get better results during ST or the season?
also...have you sent to Serena Williams? i cant seem to find an addy.
Richard (RGBII) sent me a lot of 2008 ginter so i'm trying to send those out
one last thing... who did you send Bigfoot to?
cincyfan1: I sent the bigfoot card to its creator:
Bob Chandler Sr.
1657 WILSON AVE
CHESTERFIELD, MO 63005
I haven't sent to Serena Williams. I have never seen a success for her anywhere by mail.
RGBII has been a good friend to me as well. No offense to any other members, but he is the king of Allen & Ginter cards around here.
I do a bit of research before I send to active players, so I try to send to those who are known to sign. I don't see too much of a difference between spring training and the regular season. Feel free to PM me with any more questions that you have.
Cheers, zedsls
that is just an absolutely incredible collection!
Here's to hoping that more guys catch up on their old mail. I have at least another 85 cards out there waiting to be returned.
That Young looks great!
Great job! This is an amazing collection!
One of those 85 came back today. I was hoping to post this
But instead I got this
They don't quite compare.
It is not pretty, but he is 88.
nice one to get back
sparky anderson also has a suckish signature
This is so impressive!
I love the Allen & Ginter issue but your
project takes it to a whole new level.
I wish you continued success.

In addition to the actual cards, I have sent out some custom cards made by some very talented people. Here is one that I got back today:
I had a good mail day today. Here are a few more of those customs:
when do u send to spring training?
I'll send to Pitchers and Catchers a few days before they are scheduled to report. Then, I will do a batch of position players also a few days before they report. Finally, I'll track the returns and send out as others post their successes.
who are some of the people u r going to send to?
r there any big names that sign during ST?
Awesome thread!
I got this through a paid signing:
Yaz=Mega Sweet

Love the Yaz and good timing with your Sparky - I've heard he's unfortunately sending out to ill to sign letters...
Got 3 more back in the mail today, including these two:
when and where did u send to CC? he seems like a tough signer to get.
nice Snider.. I think this is the first time I have seen his auto in anything other than blue ink.
cincyfan1: I sent to CC last year c/o Indians ST
bat115: It would have looked better in blue, but he has been using a black sharpie lately.
Here is a another recent return on a custom. I love how he signed it in the right spot.
Got my first Spring Training return
i got my blair back today too....did u get that thank u note think signed too?
cincyfan1: yes I did and she signed my protective index cards
great successes
I got 5 more in the mail today including this from a paid signing:
The Gibson is a nice one, congrats!
very nice successes
steven
A couple more spring training returns; I am now up to 155 signed cards.
nice Gibson auto
Have you tried Jason McElwain yet?
kidcarcia: Yes, I have.
sweet! could you please give me his address?

Cubsfan: I sent to Wang at Spring Training 16 days 3/17-4/2
Among my birthday mail was a Return To Sender from Bill Mazeroski, but I did get a success from a paid signing
I paid for Stan the Man before, but the signature was really bad. The promoter offered me a do-over and I asked for a thicker sharpie to be used. It isn't his classic signature, but it is still better than most modern players.
I am waiting to get back a couple of HOFers back from paid signings, so stay tuned.
Sweeeet... Love this thread
On my second try I finally got Kerri Walsh back today after 5 months to complete the pair:
One of my HOFers came back in the mail today.
“Always go to other people's funerals; otherwise, they won't go to yours.”
And another HOFer, but most believe he uses a ghostsigner.
Rest In Peace Dom
Another HOFer
From a private signing
Very nice addition!
Hey how do you make the custom cards.
NovaFan10: I didn't make the customs. I collected the images from other message boards. Basically a person will scan a real card, wipe out the image of the player and replace it with a different player, and find a similar font for the name. Allen and Ginter cards process the photos, I believe it is similar to the Dragan Effect. You would need to use a Photoshop type program.
Very very nice Ripken. As always, I love these. Can't wait to see them in person.
I think you will like this one too!
i was wondering if you had by any chance sent to Serena Williams or Rampage Jackson? do u have any thoughts on how to contact them TTM for an auto? thanks for the help! I love your collection!
cincyfan1: I have never seen a Serena signed card. If you have a spare to send you could try sending one to her at the US Open next month. I have seen one Rampage success via UFC. Good luck.
Here is my first from the 09 set:
Sweet - once again you know I love this project!
I am still working on the HOFers from the 2006 set. Here is another one from a private signing.
sweet return!
Last year's codebreaker:
And, the guys who broke this year's code.
Wow - how old are those two?
Here is the oldest living Negro League player at 103. EDIT-RIP

Last Negro Leaguer that I needed.
WOWSERS! This is an extremely awesome thread! How have I missed this!!!!!
Justin
Very impressive collection!
Awsome set. I just watched the King of Kong about Wiebe. Great documentary i sugest you see it if you havent. It sheds some light on to who he is. The old record holder for Donkey Kong Is a jerk.
My Spring Training mail is coming back again. So far I am 11/20 for this ST.
very nice TTM success! I hope they keep coming in!
Justin
Another HOFer from the 2006 set. I only have 1 left of those who are alive.
thats awesome!
Justin
Sweet! Whos the last one left?
The last one I need is Harmon Killebrew. He signs through his foundation, but requires a good sized donation.
Time to get started on the 2010 set.
I really love this project when I get back a beautiful card like this one. You guys can keep your sticker autos.
This thread is just sick! I admire your dedication and effort.
I am starting to like the horizontal cards.
Very cool updates! Also where do you get the addresses from???
yeah this is a killer thread! Congrats on all the sweet TTM's!
Justin
I get my addresses from http://www.sportscollectors.net
how close are you to finishing the TTM set? Awesome thread keep it going!
Once again, phenominal accomplishment.
I believe that I've posted it here before but,

This is my 250th signed Allen & Ginter card. It was the final card to complete the HOFers from the 2006 set. I'll work on some statistics on the effort that has gotten me to this point.
Here is what they all look like together:
Here is where I am by year:
2006 62 (58 base cards & 4 customs)
2007 72 (62 base, 3 minis, 7 customs)
2008 69 (56 base, 8 customs, 4 state cards, 1 code contest)
2009 33 (29 base, 1 mini, 1 national hero, 2 code contest)
2010 15 base
1 Yankee Stadium mini
WOW! Congrats of finishing the HOF for that year! Love these cards! The autos just look like they should have been on the cards in the first place.
A couple of non-baseball returns:
Donald Johanson was one of the researchers that discovered Lucy:
Very cool return on the Lucy card!!
How do you get some of the bigger names to sign??? I know there are some that refuse TTM stuff and on do signings if they get paid??
edgerrin32: I've gotten most of the big names with a donation to their charity or through a paid private signing. Also, I always give a small donation to the Negro League players. For the non-baseball subjects in the set, I try to include an extra card for them to keep as a thank you.
Still working on this project.

Here is one signed by a family member: Roberto Clemente Jr., who played in the minors and went into broadcasting.

Mr. Wood,
You have received the "unofficial" God of TTM's

This is one I never thought would sign TTM.
Congrats on the sweet TTMs!
I am making a serious push to get to 300 returns by opening day.

A couple of recent returns:

I am still working on these:
But, lately I have also had my eye on these:
Great successes.

I'd heard he'd taken a turn for the worse recently. He will be missed.
Very nice add!!
You seem to be getting all these people that are passing right before they do. Sad they pass, but cool you get them while you can.
I don't get them right before they die. I post or re-post them in their memory. I have over 300 of these signed and I don't post every single one I get.
I like those additions!
Love teh summer sanders.
Awesome as always!
Justin
Loving this project.
Here are a couple from a recent trade:
One of the few men who beat Ali.
RIP Smokin' Joe
very impressive! Congrats!
Justin
These are awesome! I know there's a Cael sanderson card..have you tried to get that signed?
One of the frustrating aspects of this project is getting guys that infrequently sign to sign for you. I have sent 2-3 times to Michael Dunn, a reliever that has moved teams 3 times in the past 2 years. I finally broke down and bought one from a fellow collector. This completes my set of players that made their MLB debut on 9-4-2009, the day my daughter was born.
I took the summer off from this project. But I am back.
nice cameron my wife loved him here (in Boston)
