Well, since I'm on Christmas break I've had a little time to play some video games. In fact, this has been the first time in a while I've had the opportunity to sit down and veg out in a game so I chose to play the new 007 Goldeneye game for the Wii.
I've absolutely loved it. I only have one complaint and I'll discuss that later. This game does an excellent job of taking everything that was good about the N64 Goldeneye game and then making it better. Let's begin with some basics:
The game has four different difficulty levels...Operative, Agent, 007, and 007 Classic. Operative is the easiest and I've gotten through that one already. It was difficult but your health can regenerate without using body armor, so it makes it a little easier to get through. I've only just begun playing the Agent level. It is definitely harder and involves more objectives to complete. The 007 Classic level does not allow your health to regenerate. So, you have to find body armor and do much more stealth work than open fire fights.
The game play is done very well. There are a couple of features that are just plain awesome. If you use the Wii remote as the main controller it's much easier to aim at your enemies on the screen than using the analog stick on the Wii Classic Controller. This is an added bonus that makes the game that much better. Additionally, you can crouch behind things and then use the nunchuck to peak your head up and shoot down the sites of your weapon. This makes it much easier to handle those close quartered fire fights you find yourself in. Second, if you push the button to make yourself look down the sites you can tilt the nunchuck and it will make you look around corners to snipe unsuspecting enemies. Third, there are several levels that if you are careful enough you can basically sneak through the entire level by crawling up behind guys and "subduing" them. It's a nice combination of all-out fire fights and crouching and sneaking.
The levels are all basically the same as the original N64 game, but they are much different. In other words, there is a train level, but it's nothing like the train level on the N64 game. There's a tank level too, and you get to drive the tank, but it's different than the original and you get to shoot at helicopters.
Finally, I've played the head-to-head version of the game and it is also just plain awesome. My brother-in-law and I sat for about three hours last week fighting each other on it and it was very very fun. There are tons of different characters to choose from and tons of weapons to use. You can try to snipe your way through with a sniper rifle, go nuts with a rocket launcher, or do the more traditional machine gun/hand gun battle.
My only complaint was that there are many sections of the game where the screen is so dark you cannot see where you are going. I tried adjusting the television and other things, but in some cases there's nothing that helps. The only thing that you can do is pull out the smart phone the game gives Bond and scan the area. Sometimes looking through the smart phone camera helps you see better. In two levels they give you night vision goggles, but these aren't something you can keep throughout the game. They are level specific. They should have made these a regular accessory that Bond can use when he needs them.
Has anyone else gotten to play this? If so, let me know what you thought.

My mother got me a Wii for Christmas, and this was the first game I bought for it.
So far I have been disappointed with the motion controls, as everything seems to be too jumpy. I have tinkered with the settings, but can't find anything I feel comfortable with. The problem is likely more me than the actual game. As Jeremy stated, the darkness is also a huge problem. The brightness settings both on the game and TV are at maximum, and it's still problematic.
Yesterday my LAN internet adapter came in; the online is surprisingly good. I play Team Conflict (team deathmatch), and it is good. My only complaint is the length; standard Call of Duty TDM goes to around 75 kills, while the limit for Goldeneye is 40 kills.
If anyone else plays, I'll try to find my friend code and post it here today.

Update:
I have finally adjusted to the Wii controller. One problem was the motion bar; it was not sitting as close to the front of the TV as it should.
I'm still not very good, but getting better. It just takes so long to level up your character online. I've played for around 10 hours and am only level 12 (out of 56).
