Anyone watching the games? Who's your pick to win the Gold in men's Hockey!

Here's the game listings on NHL.com

http://www.nhl.com/ice/schedulebyseason.htm?gameType=9&location=/olympics/2014&navid=nhl:topheads

First set of games today started way to early for me, I was at work but was able to watch the updates on my cell, just for a moment I thought Canada was gonna get beat, same with Russia! USA had a good game, 7 to 1! Sweden pulled through, as Finland.

Team Canada thinks there gonna run away with the Gold, and all the hype they are getting, I beg to differ! laugh.gif That's just me anyways!

I listened to the US and Canada games using live streams. The US game was weird it was a quiet first period, then in the second it was like the goalie was pulled, then in the third it got quiet again. laugh.gif

Canada sounded like a hockey game as there was some hitting going on and some after the play scuffles from what I heard. It sounded like those two teams did not like each other.

Not sure I agree with this. Price eh! Quick with Cup experience, Kane with 2, think that will help and Oshie too! GO USA!!!! USA! USA! USA! biggrin.gif

Ha, Norway and Austria? Such easy teams to beat, cant wait to see them play the better match ups, Finland should fit the page Sunday.

Ahh, 7:30 am ET for the US vs Russia game in the morning, now that should be a good one, get the coffee ready!

Did you check out the non NHL players on some of the teams? Nedved ? Really? See some retired NHL guys or guys that went back to there home land to play!
Slovenia only has one NHL player, A. Kopitar, Lol!

Zetterberg is out for the rest of the Olympics, in fact, the rest of the NHL season, maybe his career, not a smooth move on Hollands part letting him play when just returning back to the Red Wings, kind of Selfish of Zetterberg to go putting the Red Wings chances to go anywhere, he must have forgot who pays his bills! Even Lidstrom opted out of the Olympics because he didn't want to take a chance of getting hurt!

I really didn't like the fact that they started putting NHL players on the Teams, just not the same as the old days! Just saying!

GO USA!!!

Yeah Oshie! Well, that was a close game, glad the US got the win!

I felt that way all the way back to when they first let NBA players in the Summer Olympics. I think I am the only one who thought the "Dream Team" was a nightmare and a stupid idea.

Now I know the main concept of the Olympics is to be a world-wide competitive sporting event, but it used to be that the athletes were competing for the love of their sport, national pride among other varied reasons. They were amateurs. Part of the struggle to get to the Olympics was finding the funding to compete, for some countries trying to get funding to participate is still an issue.

Of course there is the thought that the Olympics is supposed to be the Best of the Best and well professional athletes are usually labeled the best even if they technically aren't.

Yeah, It used to be the college kids in hockey, there's probably good talent out there that will never be seen because of the NHL players coming in, same with the European's being drafted into the NHL, think 89-90's era, Mogilny, Bure, federov, etc

Now its a big blow out All-Star Olympics! sad.gif

I would rather watch amateur teams however, I always felt that the Russian teams were anything than amateurs, at least in hockey. Of course, there again was the magic and true miracle of the 1980 win!

Slovenia beat Slovakia.. wow.. halak just doesn't have it. Probably will ruin his season back in st Louis. Time for a trade!

I for one will never forget the miracle, but I enjoy this all star matchups/mashups

It still about team and country no matter who is playing!

At least that won't be as destructive as what happened to Zetty. That really hurts the Wings.

I dunno look what happened to fleury last year. Once their confidence gets shaken..

Fluery wasn't the reason they lost to Boston, no offense, can't win if you can't score with 2 of the leagues top players. Also, he never got a chance to really regain it when Vokoun got the nod and rallied the team.

Halak will be fine, maybe? unsure.gif
