Last week Steiner Sports had a sale on a David Ortiz "imperfect" baseball: $19.99 for a ball that may contain small oil stains or a small smudge on the autograph. I took the gamble, and I'm glad I did.

When I pulled the ball out of the box I could hardly notice a stain; it took a bit of light to see the small stains on the left of the ball away from the autograph. Around one inch to the left of the autograph is a slightly noticeable stain around the size of a pea, but it doesn't affect the autograph.

For $20 this was a steal. No pictures as I have no digital camera or good cell phone camera.

Just checked. Steiner still has Schillings and Ortizs imperfect balls for $19.99 if anyone is interested.

I also just found the imperfect Hank Aaron's listed again. I put in an order. For $39.99 I thought it was worth a shot.

I went to the search rectangle and typed in "imperfect." On the first page bottom right it has the Hank Aaron for $39.99.

Some people are happy and disappointed with the Aaron's; not only because of the stains, but due to the signature (one of his lower quality sigs).

If it weren't for incurring more shipping charges after so quick and order, I would consider the Schilling.

Well, you're not going to get a great quality signature from him anymore, I don't think. I've seen his sigs on cards like from 2011 Tribute and they just aren't as great as they used to be. Sort of the way that Musial's signatures have gone. That doesn't bother me because I still know it's his. I figure even with some stains on the ball it will just look like it has maybe been used. I don't plan on selling it, so if I can get an Aaron certified autographed baseball for $40, I'm in.

I looked at your thread on FCB. Based on the pictures I saw and the descriptions from others I think I will be happy. I'm not as picky as some of the posters on there and I'm not planning to re-sell. It looked like pretty much every ball except one or two would be just fine for me.
