Collector Zone _ News and Announcements _ Implied profanity and unacceptable words

Posted by: RGBII Dec 6 2009, 11:45 PM

When each and every member signed up here
they agreed to this . . .

"You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the TCC Collector Zone to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law."

It is the fifth paragraph in the guidelines in the
blue banner space at the top of this page.

Bob has made it abundantly clear that profanity
and implied profanity are not allowed here. That
includes "cute" internet acronyms. There is a
zero tolerance level for this. This is a family-friendly
forum and we will preserve that aspect.

I'd much rather be searching the boards for
set fillers than typing this. Think before you
post
- if you wouldn't want your child to hear
it coming from your mouth, then don't post it on
these boards.

So if those same children were jumping off of bridges, you would be first in line to follow?

Just because it is used in other public places does not make it proper to use. Please learn better judgement than to follow others. wink.gif

You have been suspended for 1 day for your attitude concerning a simple request from the CZT to not use implied profanity going forward. Any further disregards for this, will result in further suspensions.

Yet another reminder of a site policy
that will be enforced.

The subtitle says it all . . .

You know whats most sad about this?? You have more trouble with the adults than you do the younger members I bet....

Well I Guess what's more sad is that you have to post this at all..

Posted by: phatman68 Jan 3 2010, 11:23 PM

I was pmd about a word I didnt know could get me in trouble and returned asking if there was some sort of list or something I could see to prevent a problem in the future and was ignored...I am not trying to be smart but I really wanted to know because some words...like the one I used...usually arent considered near a form of profanity

Just dont want to have another issue

Thats my point...I didnt have any doubts at all and it was posted like a day or two ago and out of no where I got a pm about it..

I believe the particular term and post
that you are referring to was deemed
crude.

I have already spent more time than
I ever intended to concerning this subject.

There is a filter in the programming of the
site that automatically censors a predetermined
list of words. This system is not enough to
protect the boards from inappropriate words,
acronyms and phrases.

That is where common sense comes in.

Just because a word, phrase, acronym or
adjective is in the popular language of our
time does not deem it appropriate for these
boards
. The fact is, our conversational
language has become so crude and vulgar,
that our forbears would not recognize it as
their own.

If it is crude, vulgar, profane or just bad
taste . . .

Don't post it.

If you get a pming asking you to not use a word. Then dont use the word again.. Say your sorry and try harder next time.. If its a word that is not on the list I dont think the CZT will throw the book at you the first time??

Also there would be no way to make a list.. Words come and go so fast these days one week it can be bad and the next not.. Just use your best judgement and be nice when asked not to post something or when asked not to use a word..

Its a friendly reminder. Not a Death Sentence.. some of use have been around so long on the site or dont come here very often and need reminders some times..

Well said. It's the arguing how you feel we are wrong or how you don't agree etc.. that will get you into more trouble, that or ignoring our polite requests wink.gif One would really have to go overboard to not get a warning 1st.

Posted by: WHyFLy Jan 4 2010, 04:55 AM

Yes, finally someone posted this thing up. Bravo!

Posted by: RGBII Sep 20 2010, 08:04 AM

Resurrected due to some recent questionable
posts.

Everyone, once again, if it is crude or even
questionable
, do not post it.

I have added several different spellings of
this particular word to the Bad Word Filter.
If you are viewing one of your recent posts

I personally don't mind curse words and what not, but its not about me! Remember there are kids on here that don't need to read that and there are people that are religious and it will offend them as well. And just out of common respect. I have slipped a couple times, but edited my post, mostly when I was new! But I still try to make sure what ever I say won't be took the wrong way or offend someone. I only mean good when I post, so if I ever post and you think its meant bad that wasn't how I was trying to make it!! cool.gif

That's the whole point.

Sure, you can argue "kids hear worse at school or home", but we don't want them seeing profanity at TCC.

I resisted the strong urge to imply profanity because i'm a sick person.

I'm down for keeping threads dead.... Just seems lately they are being brought back from 2008, 2009.
