QUOTE(ronaldinho0003 @ Jun 16 2010, 12:21 AM) I think it would get way too out of control. Like Tom stated, approving auctions would bring a mess of cancellations and scams. I would be against it. Yes. Way out of control. For example: what if the seller didn't like the price he was selling it for? Suppose the seller was hoping to get $20 for an item, but the highest bid was $4. Is the seller going to charge $16 for shipping? Or will the seller cancel the sale because he didn't get the price he wanted? And what is to stop the seller from doing that? In the end, even if the seller gets banned, he will just submit his item to Ebay with a bid minimum amount. So why bother with all that hassle in the first place if Ebay is already an established entity for auctions?

Well, I'm a member of a domaining forum (If you don't know what domaining is, it's basically buying/selling internet web domains, such as tradingcardcentral.com) and they do auctions in a couple of formats.
Firstly, they do them post-by-post, but terms have to posted in the original post. In this case, terms could be in the form of shipping method, shipping date, shipping cost, etc. Also, the original post MUST have an end time, whether it's 24 hours after the last bid (which means each time there is a new bid, the 24 hours starts over) or a set date/time, whatever the format, there MUST be an end time. If either the seller or buyer defaults, there are penalties up to, and including, being banned from the site. They see auctions as binding agreements and if it's broken, the staff sees that as a breach in contract.
The second method is in live chat. Every week at a set time, the staff runs an auction in live chat. It costs 200 of their forum currency to list your item in the auction (this equals about $4), and the person putting up the card for auction decides starting bid price, reserve price, and buy-it-now price if they want one. They generally put the list up a couple of days before the auction begins so people can look it over and decide what they want, then the auction starts at the specified time. During that live chat, the only people that are allowed to speak are the auctioneers, the seller of the item currently up for auction, and anyone actually making a bid. Once the bids slow down, they actually do the "GOING ONCE" then "GOING TWICE" thing before saying "SOLD." Once it's sold, though, they see it as a binding contract.
I think it's a good system and it they run it very well. If you guys feel up to it, maybe just run it once to see how it works and go from there.

QUOTE(Tarasadie17 @ Sep 3 2010, 05:51 PM) Auctioneer isn't happy with price realized, doens't want to sell... He never draws up a transaction, the "winner" never pays, so the CZT never has to get involved. Pretty much just like the auction style group breaks that never reach their payment total. QUOTE(Tarasadie17) Auctioned off cards lost in transit... No difference between this and any other sold card getting lost in transit.
