It's long been my assertion that when it comes to the hobby, wives, girlfriends and other female significant others have some sort of magical powers. I've seen it again and again when it comes to picking boxes, packs, etc.

It turns out that my new wife has retained hers.

I've been sick with a pretty nasty flu over the past few days and I was lucky enough to feel better to the point where we can head down to the LCS (shout out to Sports Card Mania in Sacramento, California!) and check out Prestige.

I ended up getting the remaining 12 packs from a half-opened box, and one sealed box. For the sealed box, I asked my wife to select it. She always thinks I'm crazy, but like I said, I'm pretty sure she has magical powers, so I insisted.

It turns out that the fellow who was in the store before me didn't do too well with the first half of the box. He only got one GU, and it wasn't even noteworthy enough for me to remember. I was happy to clean up this particular box for him!

This box did not start out well on the hits. Nor was the RC selection too great. I DID end up with a Courtney Upshaw draft day SP RC, a Weedn RC, and a Chandler Harnish base RC which I'm almost certain is one of the SPs, but I didn't see Griffin or Luck RCs for the entire box, which was disheartening.

I cannot forget the day in December 2006. My mother, mvpujols#5, and I were shopping in Wal-Mart. I was leery of a certain blaster because the shrink-wrap appeared to have been tampered with. My mother told me to get it regardless.

Inside was a Barry Bonds on-card autograph /5, the best card I have ever pulled.
