Collector Zone _ News and Announcements _ Over 100 Members and 1200 Posts

Posted by: bob_TCC Apr 24 2005, 12:54 AM

Thanks to all of you who have helped us pass over 100 members and 1200 posts during the very early stages of the TCC Collector Zone! We've also seen 1 trade completed and 3 more are underway.

Most of all, we've had alot of fun and clean, solid discussions about a number of things within the hobby.

We're looking forward to continuing to get to know each of you!

Thanks,

-Bob

I'm certain that increased membership will bring increased activity everywhere - including trading. wink.gif

Between 2 and 3 PM EST today, the previous record for overall activity on the TradingCardCentral.com web site in a single month was broken. With nearly 5 1/2 days to go, it looks like April 2005 will shatter the previous number!

Thanks to all of you for helping to keep the site growing!

Another record was broken yesterday...

We had the most overall activity ever in a single day on the TradingCardCentral.com web site - beating the previous record with nearly a 20% increase!

In addition, we began running ads through Google AdWords to help bring more collectors to the TCC Collector Zone.

I just wanted to let you know that we're doing more and more to sign up additional collectors because increased numbers means more fun! If you like what you see here, don't forget to tell a friend.

Thanks. I'm going to have to change the criteria for announcing records though because yesterday broke Monday's single-day activity record already. wink.gif

Just wanted to share that the overall activity in April 2005 was over 33% higher than our previous monthly high.

Thanks again to all of you and we're looking forward to a great May with plenty of great discussion and fun!

laugh.gif Let me see... How about "A Year in the Life of TCC..."? Sounds like a new blog idea.

I see that you're the newest of our blog adopters and have also quickly become the most active one. wink.gif

It's amazing what one can accomplish while being lazy watching baseball/basketball. smile.gif

Just a quick update...

As you can see, we've added another 40+ members and 1200+ posts in less than 3 weeks! Thanks to everyone who's been a part of this fast growth. wink.gif

I also wanted to share that TradingCardCentral.com has now moved into 3rd place in the Alexa rankings that track the Most Popular web sites in the Recreation > Collecting > Sports > Cards category. http://www.alexa.com/browse/general/?&Mode=general&CategoryID=8561&Start=1&SortBy=Popularity to check it out.

Since Beckett.com is in a different category though, TCC would actually be 4th overall.

As fast as this site is growing, it will take over as #1 before long. biggrin.gif
I do like the fact that this site is unlike some of the other sportscard sites I've been to. We have sections to talk about things other than collecting which keeps it interesting.

It will take a little while for that still. It's good to always have a goal though. biggrin.gif

Alexa has something known as Traffic Rank and here are the current numbers (updated today):

NAXCOM - 6,973
Beckett - 8,840
SCS - 24,416
TCC - 29,004
Upper Deck - 58,682

So, as you can see, NAXCOM and Beckett battle for spots 1 and 2 while SCS and TCC battle (friendly since they are a partner... laugh.gif ) for spots 3 and 4. Then, there's another gap.

-Bob

Note: Edited on 5/13/05 to reflect updated numbers for some sites.

Posted by: bob_TCC May 20 2005, 10:38 AM

Here are the current Alexa Traffic Rank numbers (updated yesterday):

NAXCOM - 6,836 (up)
Beckett - 8,566 (up)
SCS - 24,557 (down)
TCC - 27,497 (up)
eTopps - 30,546 (added)
Upper Deck - 57,449 (up)

You'll also see that we've now reached 160 members and over 3000 posts. Don't forget to help get the word out. wink.gif

Here are the current Alexa Traffic Rank numbers (updated yesterday):

NAXCOM - 6,343 (up)
Beckett - 7,923 (up)
SCS - 23,508 (up)
TCC - 26,181 (up)
eTopps - 36,066 (down)
Upper Deck - 57,242 (up)

You'll also see that we've now reached over 200 members and over 4365 posts.

So, despite our noted "slow" period at the beginning of this month, we're still excited about how quickly we've grown in just over 2 months.

Thanks to each and every one of you that are helping to make this happen. wink.gif

Despite my marketing background and tendencies, I also tend to be pretty realistic about things. laugh.gif

You're correct in that we've have 105 members make at least one post. That leaves 116 that have never posted. Why? Not sure. It's an interesting thing to watch, but also something that appears to be very common on forums.

Our job is to find ways to bring the silent members into the land of posting though. wink.gif

Bob I don't know what it takes, but I've noticed the Trading Forum trend to equal about 10% of registrants who actively post/contribute.

Even though I'm a mod at another site, and have been there for 2 years, I've used TCC for quite some time due to your regular updates in regards to Hobby News, sports headlines, sites, etc
I'm kinda baffled(especially since I've seen your traffic)...Once you added the forums I really thought you would pull a min. of 50-60 regulars.

I think we're heading there. It just takes a little time.

At the moment, we're also dealing with a period where most of the other sites are becoming very strict with regards to talking about and linking to other sites. The "let's all work together" slogan isn't as popular at the moment.
