Based upon, and with the blessing of, Dwight's (Urbanmonk) original Low Budget group, the Wombat is starting one for baseball!

So, what I want to know is how much interest we have for this sort of thing? DO NOT SEND MONEY NOW. I just want to know who wants to participate. Heck, I still need to get a camera and supplies.

Basic information:

- $20 Paypal a spot will get you 3 rounds in a draft for 3 teams. Yes, each round is a draft. First two rounds are snake and the third is random. That said, you can't draft the same team in 1st round in back to back months.

- Draft randomization will be recorded live on Ustream. Breaks will also be recorded live on Ustream.

- Shipping, Paypal fees, and supplies will roughly cost around $3.00 a person. That gives us...

- $170ish to work with each month! The idea is to get the biggest (i.e. most hits) bang for our buck. An example with current Dave and Adam's prices (which I will likely use exclusively, as I am a premier account), as of today: 2009 UD Icons (5 hits $54), 2009 UD POH (4 hits $33), 2008 Razor Signature (10 hits $39), 2007 Bowman Heritage (3 hits $42) = $168 for 22 hits (and D&A would throw in some free packs, so who knows?) This is just an example!

- What you get: everything for your teams in the break, base included (though you may request otherwise).

- Issues re: player and teams - card goes to player uniform's team. In the case of minor league rookies, they go to who they belong to if listed on the card (i.e. Auburn Doubledays is a farm team for Toronto). If unknown, they go to the draft team. Otherwise, randomed off.

- Multi Memorabilia and/or signatures are randomed between the teams UNLESS one team/owner outweighs the other on a card. For example... A card featuring David Wright and Chipper Jones would be randomed off between Mets and Braves. However, a card featuring Jon Lestor, Josh Beckett, and Andy Pettite (Red Sox, Red Sox, Yankees) would go to the Red Sox owner. If it's three or more different teams and someone owns the majority of the teams, it goes to that person. Comprende?

So, who is interested? I'm looking at February or March for this. So let's just talk interest, for now, maybe hash out ideas.

Since I'm also in both of Dwight's breaks, I think I have a moral obligation to go 3 for 3!

With all of the sweet products that are coming out that have the chance for hits of "Vintage" players, I think it is important for baseball breaks to clearly outline how cards are distributed from defunct teams.

It's pretty easy for New York Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, various incarnations of the A's & Braves, as well as the Expos to be handled. However, other teams, such as Washington Senators & the St. Louis Browns need to be spelled out, in order to avoid confusion, particularly if a mega-hit is received.

My personal opinion is to handle those teams the same way as the Dodgers, etc--follow the move.

For example: The Browns moved to Baltimore, so all Browns cards belong to the Orioles. The Senators of the 60's moved to Texas, but the 1st edition of the Senators (from 1901-1959) moved to Minnesota. Once again, I think the Rangers & Twins collectors should receive the Senators hits, depending upon which version the player played for.

Just my opinion.... tomato.gif

Yes, I was considering that myself. If we come to that bridge and need to cross it, we will. The way you detailed it is how I would go about it, especially with the Senators. It all depends on when the player played. Frank Howard for the Senators would go to the Rangers, for example.
