Collector Zone _ Group Box Breaks _ Group Breaks "Pull of the Month" Nominees

Posted by: Gottabe Feb 13 2009, 12:05 PM

We all know Gforce was the winner in a closely contested race for "Hosting" a break. In an effort to see if how "hosts" relate to Great Pulls, I am going to create a poll, just for the fun of it. As with Mr. 264's polls the monthly winner has bragging rights, sorry there isn't a sash to be awarded tongue.gif
"Borrowing and modifying" some of his guidelines this is how we can do it.

Guidelines:

1) Nominations are group breaks pulls.... 1 per month/group.
2) Nominations must be posted in Group Break forum, and posted by the Host who pulled it and please name the participant who receives it.
3) Pictures/Scans, although not required, are extremely helpful. If you have a video link of the actual pull and it's in a short (5 min or so) I can go through those. If you don't scan or take a picture, be very clear in the thread what you pulled.
4) Remember I am human and will miss some things. (yes, I copied that line)

I hope this about covers it. Let me know what you guys think, even if you don't like the idea. I'll aim for 1 March 09 and get the Feb poll out by the 5th for voting.

This is all intended to be fun and showing off some neat cards.

LMK what ya think,
Gottabe & Gottabe Jr. (yes, 2 Judges biggrin.gif )

Sounds fun, but knowing me I will probably forget to post my nominations laugh.gif

Posted by: crpalmi Feb 14 2009, 08:18 AM

Good idea Joe. Does this mean every month that the best Carson Palmer and MJD card that gets pulled will win?

Funny Chris laugh.gif

When in the breaks have we ever pulled a Palmer Auto? 0 mad.gif

We just pick the nominees for the poll. You submit the card/cards you want nominated. Then the PEOPLE'S, pick the actual winner.

Great job, Joe......

I am happy to see someone pick this up...thumbsup.gif

This includes all sports into one or separate?

It'll include whatever sport you want to nominate a card from..If you are doing multi-sport breaks, as many do, that's fine. Submit the best from the break, not each sport.
We can have the 1/1 Pitcher vs. 1/1 QB vs. 1/1 Point gaurd or 1/1 Goalie.
Doesn't matter. The only seperation to this point will be cost.

1. 1000.00 and below (total product cost in break)
2. 1000.00 and above. NT and Exquisite will have their day laugh.gif

My Hockey break club for Feb., boxes won't be here for my Football one until next week so won't break until next weekend.

http://www.tradingcardcentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=210260&st=0&p=1921717&

We in the under $200 area for boxes wink.gif so need our own category laugh.gif

I think TB40 basketball group break with the Beasley and Rose autos beeing pulled should get nominated

Posted by: crpalmi Mar 1 2009, 10:57 AM

I hope we can nominate more than one but I'd like to throw a few in the ring from our Boxbreakers High End case Break that we did last night (just made the Feb cutoff) so just go with what you feel is appropriate for the poll. We'd be in the high end category for thise break...

Nice stuff...I think you should add a category for lower end breaks too...they may not get the big cards very often but when they do they should get some recognition. Just what I think anyway.

Posted by: NYMETSJETS Mar 30 2009, 07:17 AM

There were a few other pretty good pulls out of my group break this month but this was probably the best. This went to Patrick (Deantap):

Matt Ryan 2008 SP Rookie Threads Letterman Auto #'d 32/38

WOW! That should be an unbelievable card, and your right, definetely will be tough to top that one G!

Posted by: Gforce083 Apr 1 2009, 03:49 PM

sgmco just shot me a picture of the card he got from my break....no need to look at that ugly redemption anymore!

Posted by: sportsfan614 Apr 2 2009, 10:13 AM

Just saw this thread, I was upset when i saw that this card would not qualify for "pack pull of the month". I consider this the Best possible pull from a box that cost less than $100. The card books over $300, and was awarded too Chadb1733.

I understand this is a little bit of a "Risky Nomination", but I'm going to go ahead and post it. Im also want every one to know that me and Hadly have worked out a "pending agreement" (via PMs), and he is fine with how the problem has been fixed. I don't think that negative comments are necessary, since this has been worked out and both of us have moved on. Also just so everyone knows hadly will be in my next group break.

Just to prove that we have worked things out, Im going to go ahead an post a couple of the PMs...

My Message to Hadly...

"Hope you saw my last post on the poll thread...

Check my bucket and let know if you see any thing you like. smile.gif "

Hadly's Response...

sportsfan614, first and foremost I appreciate your apologetic posts and your willingness to work this out. I think we’re both huge TCC fans and wish to stay in the good graces of all the wonderful traders on this site. I think your heart fluttered the same as mine when I thought that Elway auto was within the realm of possibility.

So, on to the issue at hand…I really like your _________ auto. I’ve never owned a ________ auto and would be willing to forego the cash refund and the spot in the future break if this deal could be worked. I don’t have a current BB Becket to check the bv and only want to check bv because I don’t want to be completely greedy and ask for too much. I did check ebay and they sell for about $__. So if you subtract the $__ cash value you offered in break refund/future spot…it’s about a $__ cash value swing.

Is this reasonable?

Thanks again,
Matt

I only edited the message where there are blanks. Which ever card Hadly wants is his bussiness, and I would apprecate it if there were no negative comments made about this post.

Thanks

Thought you may have gone with one of the MANY 1/1's.

I am just glad you picked one, I wasn't sure after last night's 1st boxes

Posted by: Gforce083 May 24 2009, 01:29 PM

Just curious as to why that looks like the letter "A" on the Forte and where is there a "A" in "Forte"?

Posted by: WestCoastSkinsFan May 24 2009, 03:57 PM

Nothing too huge, but the Official Football Group Hobby Box Club did hit a Sanchez auto from Press Pass SE, numbered to 120.

Someone mentioned maybe "Event Used" Rookie day or something like that.
A little odd Exquisite would stoop to EU vice GU on a RC Patch, but we've all seen worse instances...

Yeah we had that same discussion when it was pulled. Who knows with UD...?

This one was easier for me. Our nominee from our Boxbreakers Hobby Group break was this one numbered #8/20:

To have different jerseys for players and also at times it maybe whats available for them to wear. (meaning they did not have enough of that players jersey on hand)

Here is a list I found from the 2004-05 SP Authentic Sets where throwbacks were used.

Because Chicago does not have a unusual throwback Urlacher and Payton were used this year.

2004 FOOTBALL SP AUTHENTIC SERIES

A few players at the photo shoot wore Mitchell & Ness throwback jersey's for some of their SPA autograph/patches.

Here is the breakdown for the 2004 SPA's:

Tatum Bell - 1996 John Elway Pro Bowl jersey

Michael Clayton - 1982 Doug Williams T.B. jersey

Cedric Cobbs - 1986 John Hannah Patriots jersey

Keary Colbert - 1946 L.A. Dons jersey

Larry Fitzgerald - 1996 Chris Carter Pro Bowl jersey

Devery Henderson - 1971 Archie Manning Saints jersey

Greg Jones - 1996 Barry Sanders Pro Bowl jersey

Chris Perry - 1996 Barry Sanders Pro Bowl(gold SPA's only)

Ben Roethlisberger - 1976 Bradshaw Steelers jersey

Ben Troupe - 1949 Chicago Hornets jersey

Darius Watts - 1987 John Elway Broncos jersey

Roy Williams - 1983 Billy Sims Lions jersey(gold SPA's only)

2005 FOOTBALL SP AUTHENTIC SERIES

Many players for this series wore Mitchell & Ness throwback jersey's for some, or all of their SPA auto/patch cards.

Here is the breakdown for all the 2005 SPA's:

Jason Campbell - 1986 Doug Williams Redskins jersey

Maurice Clarret - 1994 Denver Broncos jersey with '75th' patch on jersey

Mark Clayton - 1946 L.A. Dons jersey

Vincent Jackson - 1963 Lance Alworth Chargers poweder blue jersey

Adam 'Pacman' Jones -1977 Billy "white shoes" Johnson Oilers jersey

Matt Jones - 1996 John Elway Pro Bowl jersey and 1996 Chris Carter Pro Bowl jersey. UD only used his Jaguars jersey for the gold's(#/25) in his SPA patches, all other patches came from the Pro Bowl jersey's. So if you see any regular Matt Jones SPA patches(#/399) with a Jaguars jersey patch it has been tampered with.

Stefon Lefors - 1995 John Elway Pro Bowl jersey

Ryan Moats -1933 Philadelphia Eagles jersey(blue/yellow patches)

2005 East-West Shrine jersey

Kyle Orton -2005 East/West Shrine jersey
