To say that this administration has not lived up to my expectations would be the understatement of the quarter-century.
Well, last night, at the very least, they impressed me with this.
That would be current members of the Allman Brothers Band (an eternal, phenomenal group of Southern musicians that were recently awarded Lifetime Achievement status from the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame), Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. Susan Tedeschi (wife of Derek Trucks, is on lead vocals) covering the Etta James (recently deceased) classic "I'd Rather Go Blind" in the White House.
Derek is also the nephew of Butch Trucks, one of the original and still performing members of The Allman Brothers Band.
Well, it at least raises my spirits that this administration has some serious taste in music. They invited the best and the best performed as, only they, are capable of.
Really like Derek's slide solo at 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Thank you Etta James for this "monster" piece of music and all of the performers that did it justice.
Thanks to the Obama's for the shot of enthusiasm in this thus far lackluster presidency.

Folks, if you like or love the Blues, I would suggest that you tune into your local PBS stations at 9:00 p.m. EST to view the Red, White & Blues from the White House.
Here are some of the performers that will entertain you . . . "The lineup features an array of blues and rock legends, including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger and Jeff Beck, along with such likely future legends as Shemekia Copeland, Derek Trucks, Trombone Shorty and others. The house band, led by organist Booker T. Jones (of Booker T & The MG's fame) features drummer Narada Michael Walden and former James Brown trombonist Fred Wesley." stolen intellectual propertyand aptly acknowleged http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/feb/27...blues-good-way/ Make sure that you read the entire article to ensure that you are prepared for(see the entire ensemble] the best Blues show that you or anyone may have ever witnessed. Enjoy folks, I know that I will!
