QUOTE(19th Century Indiana Jones @ Aug 22 2009, 08:00 PM) I'm sorry, but I had to re-edit the definition of super-collector. I also re-did the count for that particular category. More research has to go into this category. Remember, this is a poll of your current practice, not what you wish to be. Two prime examples of super collectors are Jaderock and labguy42. You wanna be one? Match them... And you determined who is and who is not how?

QUOTE(lumm0x @ Aug 23 2009, 12:43 PM) My name is Kelly. Howdy. Now that we got that out of the way, you mentioned you re-counted the numbers. I am just curious how you determined who is and is not a super collector when you re-positioned them? Hi Kelly. I'm Rob. You mean criteria? I compared what they have already acquired as compared to the general population of collectors. It seems a few might have an inferiority complex if they felt they were not touted as a super collector. That should not be the case. A super collector is the exception to the rule, not the norm. Most likely, a super collector luckily fell into a niche where everyone else was ignoring OR (as in most cases) had the funds and agility to grab items before anyone else. It's a mix of timing, luck, and finance. And too many make the mistake of letting their collection define who they are, using it as a symbol of financial status rather than what it really is - just a personal pastime/hobby with some luckier than others when it comes to a spending budget. I know I will never be a super collector. Should I be depressed? Heck no. There are a lot of cards I would deem as ugly and could not stand to have them, no matter how rare or what the demand is for it. I do not have the funds, nor the time, nor the inclination to be one. Limited funds? Well, then that is where imagination should be put to use. And I have put it to use. I sent it in as a farce and next thing I know it was published in Beckett - in an issue about super collectors, nonetheless. I had the SMALLEST Ichiro collection and yet it was placed right after the article on the Ichiro super collector who had everything. And it emphasized that you don't need to be a super collector to be a true collector. There it is, published in black & white for hundreds of thousands to see. My small collection. Embarrassed? A little when compared to the super collector. But still proud that even though my collection was microscopic because of limited funds, it was unique when compared to the larger collections. Do you have any criteria on what you think a super collector should be?
