QUOTE(Luke2411 @ Mar 30 2008, 11:50 PM)

So, for example...
Right now, I live in Urbana, IL.

I'm getting ready to move to the Charleston/Mattoon area in May. Depending on when and where, you've got yourself an attendee.

I love buying large lots of cards like that. You rarely find anything worthwhile in them but sometimes you get lucky like that Morgan card!

kiansdad has his bucket divided by teams. I love the way it's organized and plan on doing something similar once I find the time to update my bucket. Of course, I'm a team collector so it suits my needs.

Man, I feel for ya. It's unfortunate that his parents have their blinders on. What will they do when he finally gets caught and realize that they could have done something to prevent it? I have a 6 week old daughter and I hope that I can make better decisions as a parent than this kid's parents did.

I wish I had something to send you that could put a dent in what you lost. I'll keep you in mind when I open packs or go to a card show. If for nothing more than to show my appreciation for what you do for me and this country. I have several family members in the service, some of whom are in Iraq right now (or soon will be). I have the deepest respect for you guys.

Keep your chin up....good things come to good people. And not to sound like a movie nerd but I just watched Batman Begins again last night and Bruce Wayne's dad's quote fits this situation:

"Do you know why we fall? ....So we can learn to pick ourselves back up."

jam92102 get my nomination. He got me started collecting again. He gave me a "starter kit" full of Colts GU, base, inserts, and AU's. He constantly keeps me in mind when trading for cards. He's even given me several thousand cards to sort through and use as trade bait.

This is what makes collecting cards fun for me. I know I can trade cards with him and not have to worry about book value or what he or I get in return. I have started finding others on this site with similar philosophies and it's great.

That is funny how he refused to sell it to you for what you offered and then ended up selling it to you cheaper than the offer. That has to feel good.

Some people just don't care. I've never been in this position as a bidder but I have bid on auctions without realizing the seller doesn't accept paypal. Instead of insisting that he make an exception, I just send him payment according to the posted terms. I would say that he needs to send you money according to the auction terms or forfeit the auction.

Thanks for sharing. I remember when card collecting was like that for me. I try my hardest to keep my approach to collecting the same as these kids do.

I just busted a box of the 06 Turkey Red FB. I didn't really get anything exciting....A Frank Gore GU, a Steven Jackson GU (swatch was gnarled up from where they removed a patch or something), and a LT blanket. I was most dissapointed that I didn't get all of the Colts base I was looking to get....No Manning or Addai. sad.gif Good luck with your break!

I'm leaving for a local show in 10 minutes. It's always fun and I occasionally find great deals. I would say that you'll find it's worth checking out.
