Collector Zone _ Wrestling _ The OFFICAL Moving On thread for TNA/WWE

Manu was confirmed as being released today...this was expected since he lost his spot in Legacy, didn't quite have the "typical" Somoan body and lacked charisma.

World Wrestling Entertainment has released ECW star The Boogeyman. The company confirmed the release today on their website.

This is actually the second time Boogey had been released from the company. The first time, WWE changed their minds and quickly rescinded the release under the agreement that he would spend more time training and trying to improve at Booker T's school in Houston, Texas.

Boogey was originally signed shortly after trying out for and being disqualified from the final version of Tough Enough. Although he cut a great promo and had a good physique, he had lied about his age, leading to WWE from booting him from the competition. He was later signed to a developmental deal.

Posted by: Stlouisrams1600 Mar 4 2009, 05:48 PM

I remember the Boogeyman, when I used to watch it he was half way through his first year with WWE.

Posted by: jaderock Mar 4 2009, 08:34 PM

He never progressed past horrible in the ring...the eating worms aspect kept him around longer than expected. He got squashed by Kane on ECW yesterday.

Personally, I'm a worm guy so I did like his theatrics (sp?)

Sonjay Dutt was released in TNA...another pioneer of the X division.

Posted by: jaderock Mar 10 2009, 02:47 AM

Kizarny was cut from Smackdown...not a shocker...we never really knew him!

WON reports that Tazz's last show with the WWE is this weeks Smackdown. Tazz is a horrible announcer - never adding much flavor to matches. I would think that this opens up the door for JBL to return to announcing.

Tazz gave notice a few weeks ago. His contract expired today. He offered to do WM 25 if they needed him. He left on good terms. He just wanted a break. Having Vince screaming in your headset for two hours or more every week would get old fast! Just ask Mick Foley. He chose not to take the abuse and headed for TNA. I can see JBL returning to the announcer's booth but having both he and Jim Ross on Smackdown would be way too many cowboy hats in one announce booth. Perhaps we will see Ross reunited with Jerry "The King" Lawler via the Draft next month. Maybe Josh Matthews will finally get a real shot at announcing. He is actually very good.

TNA released Roxxi yesterday. Roxxi and Rhaka Khan had been serving a 60 days suspension following a backstage issue that became physical several weeks back at an Impact taping. In the midst of the suspension, the decision was made not to bring her back.

Roxxi, real name Nicole Raczynski, began wrestling in the New England area under the ring name Nikki Roxx and was brought into TNA in July 2007 as a second for BG and Kip James as "The Voodoo Queen" Roxxi Laveaux.

As the Knockouts division grew, she became something of an underdog in the division with fans getting behind her as she was having regular good matches with Gail Kim, The Beautiful People and Awesome Kong, among others.

The Laveaux surname was dropped after the 2008 Sacrifice PPV, where she lost a multi-woman bout where the final loser would have her head shaved. The loss of her hair actually increased her popularity with fans in the Orlando area due to the sympathy factor.

In more recent months, she was pushed as the hardcore Knockout, using weapons and cursing regularly. While she had not been in the top mix for the Knockouts title of late, she was easily in the top three babyfaces for that side of the division and still had strong fan support when the decision was made to let her go.

TNA quietly removed Roxxi's profile from their website this morning.

Cut Roxxi and not Khan? Is it because Kurt has a thing for Khan? Khan is a tall no talent.

You are exactly right! Roxxi actually requested the release. Roxxi was in the midst of serving a 60 day suspension for a backstage incident with Rhaka Khan that got physical. There was a feeling within some circles that Roxxi was getting the raw end of the deal due to Khan's relationship with Kurt Angle.

Holy mother of Vince...Mr Kennedy was wished well in his future endeavors by the WWE. He was on RAW this past Monday in the Main Event. His reoccurring injuries and his most recent injury to his wrist may have marked him as too risky even thou he has some charisma. His career had star written all over it for years, but he just kept getting injuried time and time again.

Thats too bad. sad.gif

He was one of my top faves. I was so psyched to see him on Raw this past Monday. I guess I have to tune in to TNA to watch him now, huh.

Posted by: bravesfan09 May 30 2009, 12:24 AM

WWE is just freakin ridiculous. I mean cutting one of the top stars and future WWE Champion? Wow!

Posted by: dodgerblue38501 May 30 2009, 02:20 AM

I hate to see Kennedy go. He just couldn't stay healthy. He has had more bad luck in the last 3 years than most guys have their entire career! He suffered a minor wrist injury in the 10 man tag from this past Monday. From what I am hearing he can thank Randy Orton for his firing. Kennedy almost dropped Orton on his head during a backdrop in Monday's tag match. If you watch the tape of the match Orton is visibly upset. The fact that Ken was injury prone and the fact that he almost injured the champ this past Monday, he was seen as expendable.

And WWE was just promoting Kennedy for the next episode of RAW during a recent commercial!

I haven't watched much so I don't know about the guy, but very weird to drop him right after the tag match and the recent hype for Monday's RAW.

Posted by: dodgerblue38501 Jun 1 2009, 12:19 AM

WWE had high hopes for Kennedy as a performer and they wanted him to get over as a star. They never would have planned to book him into a storyline where he would have been revealed to be Vince McMahon's illegitimate son and eventual McMahon family member if they didn't intend for him to get over. His Wellness suspension killed that. They never would have had Kennedy go over at Wrestlemania 23 in the Money in the Bank match if they didn't plan WWE title run for him on the Smackdown brand. Injuries curtailed that. They never would have showcased him in the Behind Enemy Lines film if they didn't have faith in him. In the end, whether it was bad luck or bad karma for some of the things Kennedy said publicly, things never worked out and never clicked.

Vicki Guerrero quit the promotion and they wrote her off on RAW in a quick and mean spirited way. All in all, I really liked Vicki and she was excellent in her role. Not sure if this is an angle or a hiatus.

Vickie gave her notice a while back as she is said to be tired of the travel and would like to spend more time with her daughters. She was very effective in her role as a heel GM and the door will remain open for her return down the line. As for Umaga, I can't help but think there is more to the story than he just asked for his release or he was fired. I'm going to see what I can find out and report back. Lots of shake ups lately with the departures of Kennedy, Vickie, and Umaga along with the impending return of Chris Masters, the heel turn of CM Punk, and yet another injury to Batista. If Kennedy was considered injury prone, what does that make big Dave? The Animal is just a little too old to be carrying around that much muscle mass and it is starting to take its toll.

Posted by: osufan2383 Jun 10 2009, 12:37 PM

kennedy was becoming a liability in the ring, that is why he was let got. Supposedly it was from a move he did on orton (which he got hurt) and almost reinjured orton's neck. Orton was annoyed, but just talked to kennedy he did not yell at him or complain about what happened.

WWE has issued this statement via wwe.com:

As reported on WWE.com on Monday, June 8, 2009, WWE Superstar Umaga (Edward Fatu) has been released from his World Wrestling Entertainment contract.

However, consistent with the practice of announcing wellness policy violations, it should be noted that Umaga's termination was due to his second violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility.

Posted by: osufan2383 Jun 13 2009, 08:23 PM

kennedy is already talking about going to tna once his non-compete clause. Which i do think that is unfair to the wrestler if he gets canned.

Candice went from Playboy Cover to Women's Champ to injury to out the door. Next!

Btw, WWE put out feelers for new women announcers...Lilian Garcia may be on her way out in a year or two...that would be sad.

Posted by: osufan2383 Jun 20 2009, 08:48 AM

as good as lillian is, she messed up on alot of stuff when it comes to entrances. that is her biggest problem and come on everybody she was dating big daddy v and did not want to dump him (another excellent love story line in wwe). I dunno which one is better that or mae young delivering a hand

Posted by: osufan2383 Jun 23 2009, 02:14 PM

so would we consider santina getting fired a cut or just a storyline ending. up to you guys.

Posted by: jaderock Jun 28 2009, 08:58 PM

As menyioned in another thread...it's was reported that:

Lilian Garcia announced today that she had told WWE she would be leaving the company when her contract expires later this year. She said she decided to get married and that was the reason for her decision.

Angela Fong, who actually had more potential as a wrestler than any woman in developmental, has been given tryouts on the road in recent weeks for the spot. That's also the reason WWE put up that they were looking for a new singer/ring announcer. Backstage the talk this afternoon was if they don't find a singer, that the front-runner if Taryn Terrell (ECW interim G.M. Tiffany). There was also talk today that Garcia's tenure with the company will not be much longer.

"The" Brian Kendrick is the latest WWE Superstar to get "The" boot. Kendrick was being featured on RAW since the draft and had worked as recently as this past Monday. Expect him to work in Japan and TNA when his no-compete clause is up.

Posted by: dodgerblue38501 Aug 14 2009, 02:58 PM

"Eugene" Nick Dinsmore is the latest WWE cut. He was hired back by the company last month to work with younger talent but has been let go already.

Dang...am I the only one that LOVED Don West on commentary?!? Maybe it's cause I followed him from his Shop at Home Days!!!

Anyway today's TNA Impact taping was his last and will be replaced by Taz (ugh). Taz never added much on Smackdown in my view and I did vote for him as worst announcer in the last two years Wrestling Observer Awards. To me, this is a MAJOR step down as Tenay and West were always excellent together whether agreeing or "fighting" with one another.

You must have seen something in that duo that I did not. I absolutely hated the announcing on TNA and that is the sole reason why I have never really watched their product. I will tune in now that the yelling and hard selling TV pitchman is no longer trying to over-sell the action.

Lauren Williams, 26, known as Angelina Love of The Beautiful People, was released today after an apparent issue with her working visa not being renewed given she was a Canadian citizen.

The current setting up of a Knockouts tag team tournament, which was to be decided on the No Surrender PPV, was to be a vehicle for Love & Velvet Sky to be the focal point of the championship. The match to decide the championship was origingally scheduled as Love & Sky vs. Sarita & Taylor Wilde, with Love & Sky as the probable winners.

Posted by: dodgerblue38501 Sep 16 2009, 02:16 AM

On the heels of the Angelina Love release amid her work Visa problems, TNA has released both BG James and Jim Cornette. James had been working backstage as an agent recently and had gotten very good marks. Cornette, one of the brightest minds in the business, had been working in the TNA production truck and working with young talent as of late.

Gregory Helms and Paul Burchill who just completed a feud that I guess neither man won in the end. Helms' release likely came partially due to the public intoxication arrest a few weeks back.

Maria Kanellis, who just turned 28 yesterday, was also released, this coming just a few months after she won a Slammy for most popular Diva via fan voting! She is going to appear on Celebrity Apprentice that starts next month.

Also Scott Armstrong, one of the better referees was released.

Posted by: jaderock Mar 1 2010, 05:22 PM

Awesome Kong has apparently been released from her contract. No word at this point whether she asked for it or it was TNA's decision. She had asked for her release a month ago. She posted on Twitter that she wanted to thank tnaDixie and all of the TNA employees for wishing her the best in her future endeavors.

Kong & Hamada held the TNA Knockouts championship. Kong recently filed an action against Bubba the Love Sponge, claiming he made threats against her in a phone call. Bubba has denied everything in the action.

Saw this on Wrestling Observer:

Lisa Varon, on her myspace account, confirmed she would be leaving TNA in a few weeks as per a note in today's Wrestling Observer which talked about the strong possibility of that happening.

Her contract expires in May.

"I came to TNA last year because I still had a lot of wrestling left in me," she wrote on her myspace account today. "I was paid a fraction of what I thought I deserved. But I wanted to show I was still at the top of my game. Now my contract is up in May. I want a modest pay increase. They don't want to pay me what I think is fair. I have no problems going my own way."

"But about 12 hours after the conversation where we didn't agree on pay, unnamed sources claim that I am hard to work with and that I don't give my best effort. My only response is that TNA made an aggressive effort to re-sign me, among other things saying that they want to build the women's division around me. And I think wrestling fans see, both on TV and at live events, that I alwys give 100%. I take pride in that. Smeaering me on the way out the door is an act of second-rate character."

To be honest I feel the guy had as much charisma in the ring as an apple (no pun intended). From what i have heard a lot of wrestlers felt the same way about Carlito and TNA has absolutely no interest in signing him. So it looks like he will be heading back to Puerto Rico with his father. My thoughts...what the heck?
--
As originally reported on WWE.com, "WWE has come to terms on the release of NXT first season rookie Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) as of today June 11, 2010. We wish Daniel Bryan the best in all future endeavors." This comes as a major shock to many fans as Danielson was considered to be the most promising of the NXT Rookies. For those not familiar with Danielson's work outside of the WWE, he has held numerous championships in independent promotions, including the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship, and has been wrestling professionally since 1999.

The article on WWE.com has already created copious speculation as to the validity of the release. Fan reaction appears to be divided, with half convinced that it is legitimate while the rest seem certain that it is a "work," meaning a news story created for the purpose of furthering a storyline. And to throw even further mystery onto the situation, Danielson changed his Twitter account from DanielBryanNXT to BryanDanielson approximately two hours prior to the story hitting the WWE website. In the message that accompanied the change, Danielson stated "Just changed my twitter name to Bryan Danielson. The winds of change are stirring." As reported by the National Pro Wrestling Examiner here, the "winds of change" line has been NXT Season One winner Wade Barrett's motto since the beginning of the competition.

As more news has become public, it appears that Danielson may really be gone from the WWE, at least for now. According to reports at f4wonline, Danielson was released specifically for the incident at Raw on June 7th. While the attack by the NXT rookies that ended the show was obviously pure storyline, it is believed that Danielson went too far when he choked ring announcer Justin Roberts with his own tie. Many believe that this was a direct violation of a company policy put in place after the Chris Benoit double murder/suicide that directly forbids on-air talent from choking or strangling another performer with ropes or other similar foreign objects. In addition, this incident happened in the midst of Linda McMahon's bid for a Senate seat.

As Raw returns to Charlotte this Monday night, the fans at Time Warner Cable Arena, as well as the millions watching around the world, have a new question that they hope to have answered...is Bryan Danielson truly gone from the WWE? And if so, what does this mean for the developing storyline with the NXT rookies? If you can't be at the show live Monday night, and if you miss Raw on USA

ODB wrote on her twitter today that she made the decision to quit the company. There had been hints for the past several weeks she was thinking in that direction, and she was not a favorite of new management, which had done nothing with her.

You figured this would happen...one of the hottest acts of several years ago...to meaning nada.
