Summer's almost here, what do you have planned? (That doesn't involve your card collection or being online...)
My plan is to be in the mountains as much as possible, starting this weekend with a paintball outing to get things tuned up. Plan to do this a bunch this summer, I hate hanging around in town when the heat is forcasted to be high as it is this year...
In June I'll be visiting an area on the Western Slope that I haven't been to before for some fishing, camping, canoeing and black powder shooting.
July is the big event - a backpacking trip on a portion of the Colorado Trail, been trying to do this for 3 years, this year is the year, July 10th-14th!! Have the topo map, and a trail picked out, just have to pick up a water purifier.

What do I have planned? Let's see: getting tags and license for my car, getting my license (few years late on this one, lol), maybe getting a little job until college this fall, and, other than that, being on TCC, buying more cards, watching baseball, and playing video games. I reckon that will be it.

QUOTE(snowblink @ May 23 2006, 01:46 PM) Didn't realize you lived so close to Yosemite, nice. Lived in northern california many years ago myself. Mining for cards, must be a good load up there, not where I would've suspected, considering the basic lack of any major sports team... What do you grow in your garden? We live in Midpines, CA, which is about 10 minutes from the Merced river. My wife is a management official at Yosemite. My sister and brother in law have these cards, purchased from the estate of a New Mexico collector. There are approximately 3 million occupying 4 rooms in an old motel in Ennis, MT. They used two UHaul trucks to get them there, with one breaking down on the way due to the weight. My garden is a deep bed, meaning I have dug down 18", sifted the soil with 1/2" hardware cloth, and then added enough horse manure to make an uncompacted bed 3 feet thick. 100 total square feet, 5' x 20'. This is a french method of gardening, where you don't row crop. Instead, you plant in a geometric pattern using chicken wire. You sow plants much closer together so that the mature plant's leaves touch one another, leading to far less weeding. This type of garden supposedly produces up to 4 times as much as traditional row cropping. The roots go straight down instead of horizontally. You never walk on it because you never want to compact the soil. You never dig it up again, either. Instead, keep adding compost. Have 6 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, 4 varieties of peppers, 5 varieties of summer squash, 4 of winter (including a Tennesse Sweet Potato squash that get's to 15 pounds!), 3 varieties of watermelon, 3 of catalope, Cinderella pumpkin, 3 varieties of pole beans, radishes, bunch onions, carrots, heirloom lettuce, spinach, red butter potatos, 3 varieties of cucumber, 2 of eggplant, heirloom golden beets, basil, African Daisy and a bunch of kinds of sunflowers. All organically grown. My goal, too, is to grow rhubarb. This is something you can't get here in CA, as it is too hot. I'm going to grow this in 1/2 Oak wine barrels so that I can move them via a hand truck / dolly to a cooler part of the yards.

Grand Mesa, Roan Cliffs or Uncompagre? I used to live in S. Utah and spent a bit of time in western Colorado. Regarding a purifier, get a ceramic filter. While spendier, it is well worth the extra cost. Katadyn makes the best, but they are a bit on the heavy side.
