Collector Zone _ Contests and Giveaways _ RGBII's version of "The Chain"

Posted by: RGBII Apr 30 2012, 05:35 PM

msw_sportscards has "challenged" us with a
flippin' pyramid scheme laugh.gif from his highly
successful http://www.tradingcardcentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=293925&view=findpost&p=2607371 thread. I'll accept this "challenge."

I am starting a chain devoted to vintage
cards only.

Vintage will be defined as anything copyrighted
before 1970.

Cards will be defined as any retail product, printed
on card stock.

Sports or non-sports are eligible.

As soon as I get 10 committed members, I will
send the first card in the chain to the first member
that accepted the invitation. The Chain will evolve
sequentially from there.

Enough with the rules. Let's have some fun with
this.

im sorry my attempt at humor caused deception.

fleetwood mac the chain.

we must never break the chain..

I figured a child of fm radio from the 70's would know my intent.
somehwere the assume adage applies to me!

I will have to check to see what I have around here....don't know that I have a vintage card in the bunch that I have here.

Alright, hold on. Here's my deal. I went back through my cards and I didn't realize that I only had a handful of pre-1970s cards. So, I don't have much to offer.

Here's what I have:

1966 Topps Mike Ryan Boston Red Sox Catcher
1966 Topps Don Le John LA Dodgers 3B
1960 Topps Hobie Landrith SF Giants Catcher
1960 Topps Joe Jay Milwaukee Braves Pitcher (Has Topps 50th Ann. Stamp)
1966 Topps Sandy Koufax
1969 Topps Nolan Ryan BGS 6

I realize the Ryan and the Koufax are nice cards, but it's going to be tough to stick one of those in the package. I know it's all about generosity, but those are the two oldest and nicest "vintage" cards I have.

So, if you guys think it's not worth me being in the chain, then I won't be, no problem.

I would love to participate but you know I am separated from part of my complete collection of stuff to pull from. Secondly, I have no clue of the rules or where this journey is supposed to take us. Remember , I am playing catch up bit by bit.

Thank you both, Adam and Brian for
joining us in the "Vintage Chain."

We could use some more *committed members
nonetheless.

*committed as in "to obligate or pledge oneself,"
as opposed to my ongoing state of mental health.

Are any of you Baltimore Colt fans? I have a nice Colt from the '50s
Let me know any particular teams in case I have something nice from a
team someone likes. I love the Redskins but I know there are no guarantees.

This has stagnated long enough. I was hoping to get
at least 10 members committed to this chain. I'll accept
anyone else that wants to participate until tomorrow,
June 3 at 12:00 pm EST.

If no one else has signed up at that time, we will start
the chain regardless. I will be sending a package to
Tarasadie17 to start the Vintage Chain.

Here's a recap of the rules and origins of the chain

I am starting a chain devoted to vintage
cards only.
