Hi guys. It's time to get our November break planned! I am posting the team assignments that I am aware of so if you participated last month but want to add, drop, or change a team please let me know asap so I can keep the list accurate.

We'll keep the cost the same at $115 to claim a team and of course you get every card pulled from your team. All boxes will broke on Youtube. The proposed product list is listed below and as always is subject to change based on product availability and final participant count;

Payment deadline: November 13th
Break Date: November 21st at 9pm(ct)

Yeah, I thought we were going to stick to 3 years? Now that more 2009 products are coming out shouldn't we think about retiring 2006?

I love 2006 because of the abundance of Pats rookie cards, but I'm excited at the thought of dropping 2007 next year so let's stick to the plan!

I agree with Takeo, Ultimate is kinda weak. Why not a box or 2 of 07Ex? Yeah we did it last month but so what?? Where's 07NT!!!!! It's like a where's Waldo hunt!

There seem to be the same amount of people unhappy with 07Exquisite as with any other 07 product so I think rotation seems to be the fairest way. I prefer Premier but we did that recently as well and when Absolute got shot down I went to Ultimate. As for 07NT, DACardworld actually had some at $485 a box but that's an awful lot when you compare it to an 06NT that is in my mind a better product that sells for $150 less.

I realize 07 is not getting alot of "love" right now but I think it's important we keep a 3 year range of products but rather than try to even out the costs and do $900-$1000 from each year I'm lowering the amount dedicated to 07 to $650 or so which will allow us to go full case on the 08Exquisite. Hope that makes sense. Again, I know we won't make everyone happy but it's all about compromise!

Seriously though..... I agree with the 3 year breaks 07, 08, 09 but.... I'm just having a hard time swallowing that 07 Ultimate is anywhere as good as 07NT or 07EX, especially at that price. Just my opinion...

i don't know how much my vote counts, but sorry britt, i like 06 NT as well. i know that we are only looking for 07-08-09 but if the best we can get from 07 is ultimate, then i would rather have 06 NT than 07 ultimate.

It's not fair to replace 07 anything with another year as there are a few superstars in that year. We need to keep the 3 year break going. If we wanted to do 06NT maybe we should do an additional break? I just think we should do something other than 07 Ultimate for better value.

you changed my mind. i think that we should stick with the 07-08-09 format. we should definitely find something other than ultimate. is 07 NT or exquisite too high priced or what? i don't know my prices that well. i love exquisite but i know that we don't want to turn this into a exquisite break.

Yes, we've been rotating the 08 product each month between Exquisite and NT. At the same time we've been rotating the 07 product between Exquisite (on the months when we have 08NT) and another (mid-high range) product on the in between months. We've used Leaf Limited, Premier, etc.. With Ultimate high priced I would like to go back to Absolute Memorabilia since I think it delivers decent product and I can get it pretty cheap ($85 a box) so we could do 8 boxes for much less money that the 4 boxes of Ultimate which leaves us enough to cover the full 08NT case and quite a bit of 09Limited. I know quite a few people spoke out against it but I'd rather not do Exquisite each month for 07 and until another 07 suggestion is made that makes sense I feel I need to make the change back to Absolute. As for 07NT, it's just too hard to find and too expensive when you do ($485 right now as opposed to 06NT at $300-340.

All that being said...I pulled the trigger and bought the last case Blowout had of the 06NT at $1200. I'd still rather not switch out the 07 product for 06 but I agree that Ultimate (with the higher price now) is probably not the answer.

I will be really honest with you Chris i dont like the product for the year 2007 in my opinion it should be NT07 or Exquisite07 and if thats too expensive or sold out we should try to get the best product available NO matter what year dont think we should ever exclude a product because it doesnt fit in the year mandate.

wow your must be really proud of yourself to keep reminding us of the three year mandate because of this rule this means that one of the best products still available NT06 will be excluded for future breaks but could you please tell me where you read about this three year mandate rule cant find it on the boxbreaker website and by group break/rules it doesnt say a word about this rule.

Let's make sure to keep things civil now. It's true that there's been no written rule about doing 3 years but it's been a pretty basic practice that we've kept most of the year. I am not 100% tied to it but I have tried to keep that general practice simply because it gives the most teams the best chance to get something good for their team. If we start limiting it to 2 years we limit the teams that can expect a decent payout.

That being said since 07NT is pretty much non existent I may occassionally be open to doing 06NT every 3rd month or so. We could do Exquisite one month, another 07 product the 2nd (Premier, etc.) and 06NT the 3rd before moving back to 07 Exquisite the next. I'm not saying we'll do this for sure but I would consider it if the group is overwhelmingly for it.

everyone needs to chill out a little. this break is for fun and we should all have respect for eachother. the three year mandate has been kind of an unspoken thing since the beginning. i like NT, too, but at some point we need to move on from 06 stuff. the object of a monthly break is to keep moving forward. the redemptions from 06 are expired now and i like the 07-08-09 format.

btw, britt has kept this break alive many months by taking as many teams as she has and her opinion is valued by many. EVERYONE'S opinion is valued and EVERYONE should be respected. there is no place on this site for uncivilized behavior.

that being said, i appreciate everyone's involvement in this break and i wish all of you the best of luck in this and other breaks.

I'm just seeing this whole controversy now.

My Vote: Stick to 07-08-09, and use the 06 NT case in a separate group break, possibly paired up with other NT years.

Yes, 2006 NT is an amazing product. It's especially amazing for a Patriots collector like myself because it's chock full of Patriots rookies. But like I said before, I want to stick to the current three years. Although I love 2006 products, I hate 2007 products and don't want to be breaking them next year. If we break 2006 NT this month, it sets a precedent for sneaking in products into upcoming breaks.

And this doesn't mean we should break 2007 Ultimate. I'm sure there are plenty of way to build a 07-08-09 break without including 07 Ultimate.

As much as I like 06 NT I have to vote for the "most current 3 years" plan. First and foremost it will prevent pulling expired redemptions. Secondly, it is a fair and structured plan that will provide the most teams with the chance for good hits. Some years may not be great for everybody...look at me with the Packers, a few OK rookies in 07, less in 08 and none in 09. I have accepted the fact that I am in it for the fun of it and will not ever hit a huge RC. Even Favre has been taken away from me!!!

It seems like the sticking point is that we do not want to necessarily exclude 2007, but nobody likes the choices outside of EXQ/NT. The reality is that we will have to choose something else, since it seems that we may run into the same problems in future years, especially with NT being such an awesome product I have been not-so-happy with some product choices in the past, but I have been pleasantly surprised with some pulls from them. What I would NOT want to see is us overpaying just to have EXQ or NT from ANY year.

Chris, since the debate is getting heated, why not set up a vote to officially establish or rule out the 3 year plan. After that is decided we can move forward with an exact product list. There will always be the temptation to add older stuff, but if the rules are in place it will be easier to make decisions.

Premier was the first product that came to my mind as a substitute for Ultimate. Other ideas would be Triple Threads and SP Chirography.

And as much as I hate to say it since I absolutely loathe the product, there's always 07 Leaf Limited.

I would be happy with 07 Limited, Absolute, Premier (hate the coaster though), SPRT, SPA and even TTT, although it is a bit overpriced IMO.

Ultimate is bad for 07 and SP Chirography is a sticker dump of epic proportions...although I hear 09 Signature may surpass it!

The past couple non-exquisite products for 07 that we've used have been Limited and Premier and now Absolute. My preference for the next one to come up would be Premier. Yes, I agree that the "coaster" is a waste but I don't consider it a hit and the rest carries the product in my mind so I would tend to look at both.

I haven't done any seperate case breaks for about a year so I have decided to pair up the 06NT case with an 08NT case and try to get that set up in the next couple weeks. As usual on a higher end product break, those members holding a team in this monthly break will get first shot to retain your team but your participation (or lack thereof) will not effect your status in the monthly group. Not sure on the pricing yet but I'll probably shoot for 20 slots and ahe option to purchase a randomized draft pick to cover the remaining unclaimed teams. That will be a seperate thread and I'll probably wait until next week to get that going.

Heads up as well that based on if I (or we) like 09Limited, I may be pairing that with a case of 07Limited to do another dual case break but that won't be until later. Same process as above would apply for claiming teams.

Yeah, I look at the coaster as a replacement for a base card.

Hell, as a team collector I think the coaster's cool. I'm always looking for something a little whacky to add to the collection. In one of Chris's breaks I got a Wes Welker coaster that said Pro Bowl 3rd Team. It was numbered pretty low, to 15 I believe.

We already cut the 07 product down pretty far. I believe the case hit in 09 is the same as in 07 where it's a Letterman or something like that so even if we don't hit it I don't know if it's such a terrible loss? I'd love to have the budget to full cases of everything but cutting the 07 product under $600 when we'll have $2700 or so for the budget is just not the way to go.

Well you only get one of those 3 but I'm looking at 09Limited as a stepping stone to some of the better products which come out in Dec and Jan. We are doing 07Absolute but less than a half case of it so it's enough to ensure representation of an 07 product but not enough to hit the budget too hard. It's all about compromise folks...

Looking to get the final payments in. If we do indeed have 22 teams claimed we'll need to wait to see what the final 10 unclaimed teams sell for to see how many 07 boxes we'll have. 8 boxes may be a stretch but I'm hopefull for 7.

Also I have to move the break up one night as I just learned I have to leave town Sunday so we'll run the break Saturday Nov 21st at about 9pm(ct) immediately following the Multi-sport break (in which we have 3 slots still available by the way!)

I think the mandate should be allocated between older years with restricted product 06/07 and new years 08/09 that always have every product available.

I agree, I do not want us to be in 2010 still trying to have people sneaking 2006 in, there is a time to move on.

Next year 2007 products will be done for good in the break then and we can do 2007-2008-2009.

Redemptions are expired in 2006, it is a product that is four years old, dead serious I love 2005 Exquisite football, but I am not asking for it because I know it is not within the" Unwritten but well known rule"

There are a lot of great products Black, Triple Threads, NT, Exquisite coming out for 2009 in the next couple of months.

So we can use most of the budget for 2008 and 2009 and a smaller amount for the 2007 stuff, but the ship needs to have sailed on 2006.

Travis the procedure we have in place is that if a team opens up the first to claim them can have them. I was not informed in advance of this, I happened to read his note and had a chance to add a good team for a month so I took them. I have let great teams go by in the past to allow other people a chance to "upgrade" their teams or allow a new member to join us so I feel I am allowed to grab a "good" team once in awhile just as anyone else would. I'm sorry you feel there's anything "shady" going on and as I said they will be available next month if you or anyone else wants to claim them but I have done enough extra stuff for the break such as eating costs on non-paying members (who are no longer with the group), taking an extra team when I can't really afford it, or covering some extra cost when product prices go up so I feel I am in the right to be able to participate under the same rules as everyone else. I hate to see a good member of the group leave us so if you decide to it will be soley your choice as you'll always be welcome back. If you still feel I am in the wrong for claiming an open team I'm open to discussing it further by PM as I want to try to make sure you understand my perspective on this and I'll try to be open to yours as well.

there was a three hour window there where anyone could have grabbed that spot...chris has just as much right (if not more for all the work he puts in) to it as anyone else. i know i've been dissapointed when teams i've liked open up and someone else grabs them. i would love to get in this break, it just hasn't happened that someone has dropped a team i would like when i'm around to jump on them.

Thanks to your post Mike I had to go looking back through the photobucket to verify this. It took awhile to look through as I hadn't put names with any of the pics so I just spent the last 3 days adding in the names so I can safely verify that we have never pulled a Rice auto!

Good news about this, I watched 2 sealed 15 box cases of 09 Limited opened to see how this years look and it seems like they changed it. The first case had 3 auto'ed slides, /50 (one wasn't number but it was probably a misprint) and the second had 2 slides, 2 probowl lettermans(not auto'ed) and a cut auto. The windows on the lettermans are kinda small and the cut had so much shiney card that it looked horrible. There was also a goofy die-cut silver crown looking thing with no number and an auto, very odd.


The sell sheet says:
PER BOX ITEMS:
- 2 Autograph Or Memorabilia Cards (At Least One Autograph)
- 1 Legend Or Parallel

And thats basically how the box breaks down 2 rookie and one current player, but there are a fair amount of auto'ed current player cards and they put a lot more effort into the relics, one thing I like is that not every box has a /299 or /399 rookie auto, its possible to get 3 relics or low #'ed cards in one pack.

This set has the potential to be descent.

I have to say again I dont like any rule that limits what we can pick from, with so many teams going to silent auction the only rule we should be making is one that has a direct effect on increasing participation.And I dont think limiting will do that.If you really think 05 Exquisite will add to the group then make case for it. This month we were forced in to a lower tier set that has not much going for it except that it was 07. As crazy (as in the case probabaly already the top tier pulled, its be sitting there for 2 years )as single boxes of Exquisite are I would have almost rather gone that route because they are at least high end.

Hopefully I'm wrong and someone gets lucky in 07, is it ten yet?

Well I'll be the first to admit that was a pretty bad case of Exquisite. A few good hits but not $1500 worth!

Limited was pretty good and the first few boxes of Absolute were actually decent as well.

That's it guys...thanks again for participating and I'll look forward to the Dual Case National Treasures rip to get this bad taste out of my mouth. Congrats to all who hit something nice!

no top tier jumbo rookie, they didn't even put the card in the pack wow just wow I wonder if they would do something about that

i think it acard short check the tape there was no double we might be in luck if they shorted awhole card

yeah thats not right they need to fix that, the top tier jumbo rookie is the only card worth anything. I hope they fix this. 2 base after the double gold card last time. SMH.

Got Them!!!

OK check the sell sheet from upper deck, its a power point you can find at blowout. On the first page at the top right it says you get:

3 Autographed or Autographed memorobilia
2 Memorabilia
1 base
and a bonus gold autograph


We are short 1 auto, 100%, they don't even say on average.

So the break is not over, lets see if they replace it with the right level card.

yeah I have busted lots of 08 Exquisite and I have NEVER seen a case like that, it was tampered with someway

It's amazing how a $500 box has so many one colored event worn jerseys. Exquisite is the biggest joke. I could buy a $85 2009 donruss threads box and do better 8 out of 10 times.

I think the person hand packing them took the tiger woods auto that should have been there and dropped in abase no one would miss, over there where these cards are packed they dont know who brett farve is but they do know who tiger is and what he is worth. Supposedly they put 14 total tigers in the set and only one has been pulled they had to go some where.

This is the 4th mis-packed box of exquisite I have seen. If you remember when chris pulled big ben in big break one there was an extra card in that box. Someone forgot to remove a card and just added the ben 1/1 insert. Twice at cards infinity videos, EX08, i've seen the current player replaced with a second low tier jumbo rookie, so you get two bad jumbos and no current player.
