Texas would go bonkers if Nolan Ryan and the Bushs' could pull something like this off. STL, Missouri apparently can't put enough pressure on the redbirds to seal the deal with probably the most prolific hitter (with no recorded steroid use in his resume) in modern times.

Michael Young would be a good fit for the Cardinal's infield and help groom D. Freese at 3B. The Cards could also save face with Matt Holiday by not short changing his deserved $$$ due by not asking him to take a pay cut.

Pujols in a Ron Washington lineup with Josh Hamilton would be delicious for the Lone Star State. Nolan may have to bring in some big oil money investors but IMO it would be worth it and the Rangers would likely get their 1st championship within 2-3 years guaranteed similar to the Heat and the LBJ23's Decision.

Michael Young you will be surely missed by me and many others.....

Why in the world would the Cardinals want Michael YOUNG for ALBERT PUJOLS!?

I think the Cards will extend Pujols's contract after they finally give him the offer he's been wanting.

The difference between this and LBJ is that the Cavs were (and still are) a horrible team. The Cardinals are a great team with the addition of Berkman and Theriot and have a shot at the WS this year. I don't know why you would leave that.

This would be more like trading Kobe away for a mid-range player.

Even if the Cardinals did want to trade Pujols to the Rangers, there is no way that the Cardinals would want Michael Young involved in the package. Most/all teams are afraid to even trade a mid-grade prospect for Michael Young because of the money Young is owed on his contract, forget about the best hitter in the MLB.

I ujderstand your point; But Young is worth every penny he is due in my book. He is no Pujols by any strech of the means but his overall intangilbles are underrated IMO. Michael Young is a Bill Hall on "Steroids" in terms of what he can bring to an offense and defense.

Michael Young? The Cards don't need another 3 bagger. They picked up Theriot already.

It's hard to see any single player being worth Albert Pujols.

Even with the National League already won this year by the New York Phillies.

Cardinals dont have to ask Holliday to take a paycut. Holliday told a radio station here that he would defer $2 million a year of his contract to give to Pujols. Holliday knows whats up. Without Pujols, Holliday will not have a shot at that Ring.

Pujols wants a long term deal. Cardinals just need to step up and offer him

8 years worth $200 million with a 2 year option. If they do that I believe Pujols will sign that contract

But I do agree with fellow st Louisian Dekno..

Doesnt matter , If the cards let pujols walk then bad for them. However if cards fans get bad vibes from media and treat Pujols wrongly at home games.. then Pujols walks at end of year no matter what!

I say 7 years $210 million with options for 8 and 9 at $20 mill and $15 mill respectively

That gives albert 30 mill until 38

I think he would sign for $25 million a year. He just wants that long term deal. He wants to stay on and retire a Cardinal. The Cardinals just need to throw that offer at him. If Pujols does not sign and goes on to signing with a new team, It might be worse than what Lebron did when he went to Miami.

you know how fickle a home crowd of cardinal nation can be if they perceive Greed from Pujols, or media twists it to greeed should tomorrows deadline pass without action.

Man I could not imagine anyone booing pujols but...

Exactly, The Cardinals draw so many fans. 40,000 fans a game is alot. I could not see the fans booing Pujols, if anything they will cheer louder just to show how much they like him.
