Last night the Mets lost to the Cardinals in game 7, in the 9th inning, on home turf. It was a great baseball game overall, just greatly disappointing, as well.
Endy Chavez made a play of the year candidate when he robbed Scott Rolen of what would have been a 2 run homer, so I felt that it was a sign, that it was destiny for the Mets to win that game. But time and time again, the Cardinals pitching came through for them. Bases loaded a couple of times and the Mets came away with nothing. Bases loaded in the 9th inning for Carlos Beltran, the "Cardinal Killer", and not even he can come through.
I am most disappointed for Carlos Delgado. Him being my favorite player, and all, and he didn't get to reach his first world series. After being in the league for so long, if anyone deserves it, he does.
I guess I will say that the Cardinals played well, and obviously, better than the Mets did, even though I think the Tigers will walk right over them.
Congrats to the Mets, even though you came up just a bit too short.
