Player Collector – keyword is “player”, tries to collect bulk lots of their favorite player, may have multiples of one card; cards range from commons to 1/1s, does not care if it is base or AU/GU just as long as it is the player; does not like to spend for a card most of the time, but will trade for it; will purchase other player cards at a low price to use as trade bait; may collect one or more players
Player Super Collector (Player Collector sub-category) – keyword is “player master set”; has at least 80% of the cards ALREADY IN-HAND from the player’s checklist that may also include non-listed, obscure, little-known cards and at 50% of 1/1s produced to date in their collection; has good overall knowledge of the player they collect; a super collector may also specialize in obtaining just a collection of all or most (70% minimum) AU or GU cards from the checklist; focuses collection on one player
Prospector (Player Collector sub-category) – keyword is “rookie”; primarily collects and hoards rookie cards of a player(s) yet to play; buys low and in bulk hoping the player pans out to score high with the rookie cards they have collected; some may sell when the player becomes hot or they may keep the cards to just to brag “Oh yeah, I got a hundred of them”
Team Collector – keyword is “team”; collects complete team sets and/or the star players of that one particular team; the star singles may vary from base to 1/1s but is within the theme of the team he collects; they do not care if it is base or GU/AU just as long as it is of the team; may do trades to complete a team set
Team Fanatic (Team Collector sub-category) – keyword is “the team is all”; collects not only cards, but jerseys, mugs, pennants, clothes, gear, mini helmets, blankets, bed spreads, table cloths, etc.; goes all out for anything that is team-related
Set Collector – keyword is “set building”; collects/builds complete sets, whether they are base sets or subsets or parallels; does massive amounts of trading; may often use the special or star cards as trade bait
Box Breaker (Set Collector sub-category) – keyword is “box break”; buys boxes hoping to score on rare cards for sale/trade or favorite player/team items for personal collection; may build at least one set from the base cards of a box break
Vintage Collector – keyword is “vintage”; collects cards and/or sets from 1940 to 1973
Type Collector (Vintage Collector sub-category) - keyword is "card type"; collects one type of each card manufactured for each year, usually rare issues; cards do not need to depict a star
Prewar Collector (Vintage Collector sub-category) – keyword is “prewar”; collects tobacco items, gum cards, post cards and ads manufactured before 1940; most of these items are won at auctions, very few, if any, are traded
Advanced Collector (Vintage Collector sub-category) – keyword is “origin”; collects rare tobacco issues, postcards, posters and artifacts from the early stages of the game; the items acquired are close to or even more than a century old; rarely do trades, most items are won at auction houses
AU/GU Collector – keyword is “auto/game-used”; exclusively collects autographed and/or game-used cards of one or many players and/or of one or many teams
HOF Collector (Vintage Collector and Vintage/AU-GU hybrid) – keyword is “HOF”; collects all types of cards of HOFers whether it be GU or AU or base; many start their collection working backwards by decade starting from the most recent inductees since their cards are more easily obtainable
Old School Collector (Post Vintage/Pre-Modern hybrid) - keyword is "what's a chase card?"; collects cards that were manufactured from 1974 to 1989, before the "chase card craze"
Dabbler – keyword is “oh, that looks pretty”; collects whatever comes his way or catches his fancy or what is currently in fashion; no particular theme involved; a lot of times collects what is currently hot, mostly star players of various teams/sports and/or cards in demand
Flipper (Dealer/box breaker hybrid) - keyword is "action"; player/type of card isn't as important as profit potential; typically "flips" almost immediately while the item is hot; has no problem parting with an item as soon as he believes he has a fair return on his investment and does not worry about "what ifs"; not greedy and only cares about selling at more than what it was bought for, usually at 20%
Weekend Warrior (Dealer sub-category) - keyword is "how to be a jerk"; dealers who attend card shows only to amuse themselves and show off their collection; are rock hard when it comes to bargaining; you can spot them by their never-changing inventories and lack of customers at their booth; they are not interested in selling unless you're willing to pay for their outlandishly high prices
"Specialist" (Type-collector/player collector hybrid) - this collector's quirk on collecting is narrwed down to focusing on one small aspect, such as 3-color patches only, on-card autographs only, one specific serial # for any card they collect, only cards that capture the batter in a swing, cards that only show dunks, cards of one player from only one card company, etc.
"Flavor of the Week" (Player/Team collector hybrid) - collects the hot player or team of the week or month or season; has no allegiance to any player or team so wants change from time to time, usually in mid season and usually more than once
Pre-war cards(baseball, horse racing)
Collect for pleasure and you will always find happiness.

Didn't see any one choice that fit me so I went with player collector.....since I did go from Yao Ming to Delmon Young to Pete Rose.
