The last Baseball beckett that I purchased was in 2000. The 1997-98 Michael Jordan Starquest #83 did book at $80 in that book.

The trader is putting up snap shots from his phone with the Bv for this card which he has as $12 - $30.

He assumed I had #83.. But mine is Starquest gold #171 which in 2000 booked at $100.. He did another snapshot that has this card booking at $20 - $50.

Now either I'm being lowballed.. Or the Jordan has really dropped that significantly?

According to the Beckett guide I have from 9/2014 #171 is lo $20 hi $50 and #83 is $12 and $30.

These inserts tend to drop as the years pass because the people who were building those sets either completed them or gave up looking for the pieces they need. I wouldn't have expected that big of a drop, but who knows it could be one of those things where they found 1,000,000 boxes of the product in a warehouse and they are now retailing for $10-20 a box which pulls all the values down.

look up ebay sales and see what they have completed for

Definitly look at recent ebay sales. Some of those older jordans are selling for much higher than book!

Appreciate the help guys. I know prices fluctuate but Jordan. One would think the value would either stay the same or increase.

I did check ebay before posting here and they are ranging between $35 - $60 so I guess no low balling .. seems correct.

I would agree with that, if selling low of $35 I would probably not go with the $20 and $50 listed in the guide. This is one of those issues with the guides, but sell values aren't always accurate too. You get two crazies wanting the same card, it can go way above bv. You get just one person interested and it could go very low.

I put a Bv of $30 on the card cause it has slight damage but he still want's it. Been moving basketball for the cards I need. So this one and another gets me 2 more Trout rookies.. The Bowman gold and his Topps rookie card.

I'm betting on Trout to go off this year! And having 6-7 of his rookies for my older basketball might not be a bad thing.
