Hey guys, figured I'd make my own thread on Hornets stuff I acquire. Have been a big fan of the Hornets, more from their Charlotte days. More than a month ago, I came up with the idea of trying to get each yearbook from the Hornets dating back to 88/89. So I'll see what other items I may come across as well. To start off, couple yearbooks I bought last month:
88/89 Charlotte Hornets Yearbook
01/02 Charlotte Hornets Yearbook
Very nice, can't wait to see more!
Nice! Lets see this grow!
Cool so far! Hope it grows. I used to love there logo. I had always wanted one of the big fluffy "starter" jackets with them on it.
Got this yearbook in today:
94/95 Charlotte Hornets Yearbook
Couple more should be coming in the next couple days. I bought 2 yearbooks from a seller and he accidently sent me the media guides from those years instead. After I told him about it, he said those media guides will be a gift for me so that was very nice of him. Will get pics of those soon.
Here are those media guides:
And the yearbooks also came in:
99/00 Charlotte Hornets Yearbook
00/01 Charlotte Hornets Yearbook
Man was there logo sweet! And there jerseys were sick as well!
Oh yeah also, I was at the Nets/Pacers game this afternoon and Darren Collison (Hornets rookie last season) threw his towel into the stands after the game and I caught it. I'm glad at least the one guy that threw his towel was a Hornet haha.
Nice adds!
Thanks guys. Earlier in the week I got a book about the Hornets first season, but didn't feel like posting about it. Today I got a late Christmas gift from one of my friends, a Baron Davis bobblehead.
Something in from a Charlotte great:
Dell Curry 09/10 Panini Court Kings Legend Auto 09/49
Grandmama arrived:
Larry Johnson 8x10
Saw this photo on eBay and thought, hey why not get it? Who knows, I may get it signed one day!
Last night I got my first signature to my Hornets Inaugural 8x10 after the Nets/TWolves game! Getting any of these guys is a huge accomplishment since you don't know the next opportunity you may have to get them. Big thanks to Kurt Rambis!
One of a couple more updates to come:
Charlotte Hornets Pin From 1994
Also got another item...sort of. This came from Canada so some of the stamps the guy used were these ones commemorating the Blue Jays' 25th season and I was able to remove one of them perfectly.
EDIT: Hmmm seems one of the other items came in today....was expecting something else.
Charlotte Hornets Inaugural Year Badge
The Five Arrived:
Charlotte Hornets Hive Five Set of Pins from 1993
These were each pinned to a player "card" about the size of a ticket.
An important update for me today, I happened to see an auction including a ticket from their first ever game so I absolutely had to jump on it.
I could use the mug and the t-shirt is cool too. I was the only bid at .99 but unfortunately the shipping was $15. Don't you hate when they double what the shipping should be? I understand he wanted to make a few bucks but I can't complain about how great a job he did protecting the mug. Another update might come later in the week.
In for today:
09/10 New Orleans Hornets Yearbook
At least I got this pretty cheap, not sure when I'll get my next yearbook.
very cool thread! Nice to see all the Jamal Mashburn stuff, GO Wildcats! Congrats and keep em coming!
Justin
Haven't gotten anything in lately so thought I'd share something I got last July. You know those special books the coaches carry around, with the gameball cover? Well I spotted one on eBay and thought it would be pretty cool to have.
Charlotte Hornets Official Game Ball Notebook
Hey guys. I know, it's been awhile. Well today I got 2 yearbooks in the mail. One of them was my college yearbook. The other was a special edition of the Hornets' inaugural one.
1988/1989 Charlotte Hornets Yearbook - Special Edition
After messaging the guy about this yearbook and finding out it's a limited edition, he also told me it has a dedication page...for a season-ticket holder I'm guessing...and it's signed by one of the Hornets. Good thing he didn't include that in the description.
Well, at least the last name is Hispanic.
This is a great thread. I'm sorry I didnt see it sooner. Keep the successes coming!
Mike
Thanks for looking!
Thought I'd show an update of my Hornets Inaugural Year piece. As some of you may know, I met Muggsy Bogues last week and added him to this. That makes him Hornet #5.
In case you are wondering, yes that is a ticket from the first ever Charlotte Hornets game.
