OUTLOOK: A former starter at the University of Michigan, he emerged from spring practice as the starter and holds the top spot entering the fall. In the Red-White Spring Game, he was 15-of-26 for 233 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Red’s 49-21 victory. His touchdowns were nine yards to D.J. Williams and 14 to Joe Adams with the score to Adams giving his team a 28-7 lead just before halftime. In the first scrimmage of the spring (March 28), he was 11-of-25 for 164 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. In the April 4 scrimmage, he was 21-of-46 for 360 yards with five scores and an interception. In the four scrimmages and the spring game combined, he was 79-of-155 (.510) for 1,111 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. His scrimmage touchdowns included a 44-yarder and two 27-yarders, all to Jarius Wright.

2008: He practiced with the scout team while sitting out as a transfer from Michigan. He received a lot of work in the spring before missing the final two weeks with a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. He suffered the injury in the first major scrimmage when he hit the helmet of a defender after following through on a pass attempt. To that point in the April 11 scrimmage, he was five-of-11 for 43 yards.

AT MICHIGAN: As a true freshman in 2007, he played in 11 games and completed 61-of-141 passes (.433) for 892 yards and seven touchdowns with five interceptions. He started three games for injured starter Chad Henne. He made his debut against Oregon and played the entire second half. He started against Notre Dame, Penn State and Minnesota. He threw for a personal-best 245 yards and three touchdowns against Wisconsin.

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: During his prep career, he completed 526-of-938 passes for 8,331 yards and 76 touchdowns for Coach Barry Norton. As a senior, he set school records by completing 204-of-321 passes for 3,353 passing yards and 33 touchdowns, and led his team to the state quarterfinals. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Texas and 2006 second-team All-USA by USA Today. He also earned a spot on the EA Sports first-team All-America Multi-Purpose team and the Parade Magazine All-America team. Mallett was honored as the 2006 Player of the Year by the Texarkana Gazette and voted the AP Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year. As a junior, he completed 133 passes for 2,219 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for six scores. He had 151 completions for 2,307 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore. He also ran for seven touchdowns. Out of high school, he was rated the No. 2 quarterback in the nation by both Scout and Rivals. Rivals listed him as the No. 4 overall prospect in the nation while Scout had him at No. 5. Rivals also listed him the No. 1 player in Texas.

PERSONAL: Born June 5, 1988, he is the son of Jim and Debbie Mallett. He is majoring in sociology.

Ryan Mallett, who sat out last season after transferring from Michigan, went 17 for 22 for 309 yards and a touchdown for the Razorbacks. Backup Tyler Wilson also played and threw for 138 yards and two TDs.

After watching us self destruct today vs the Gators through several missed opportunities, I still feel we will get a late December/January Bowl bid. We need to make to the SEC Championship game though. Florida did not impress me today although they are a wicked team. 'Bama will likely be the team to beat.

I'm sooo glad that Arkansas has Mallet, he's giving us the possibility of a 10-2 record this year(should be 11-1....Alabama...). But I hate the though that he will more than likely go pro next season. And how about Knile Davis, the past 4 games, finally seems like we have a run game...

The Bama game still stings bad with me. ##### sometimes to have a pretty good memory. Yet, we need to jump on Mississippi quicky to offset the home crowd. LSU in Little Rock will one for the ages I believe. I'm not Mallet; but if I were him, it might be hard to pass up a good spot in the upcoming draft while the guaranteed money is still available. Nothing surprises me anymore. That being said, Petrino may not be around years to come unless he gets more hype about himself in the media about what he has accomplished while Head Coach of the Hogs. For cannon fodder and grins, Penn State will need a new head coach sooner than later, coupled with Notre Dame wanting to get back to the glory days. I refuse to address the Battle of the Boot with LSU until the outcome of this weekend's game. SEC Football rules hands down, specifically the SEC West ! The proof is in the pudding.
