Card shows and shops that have it are the best places to get it. Sometimes you will find it at flea markets, but in all cases the prices depends on the sellers. Sometimes you will find bargains or fair prices, other times you will find people asking for your arm for it. Someone on here just bought some on craigslist. I am not sure how you see the cards first before you make an offer?
Most vintage is rough as people didn't have boxes, sleeves, etc to protect them. Heck they even used to wrap them up with rubber bands to store their sets and use them as noise makers in the spokes of their bikes, or they "flipped" them. If you don't know what that one is, it is where you and a buddy sat down and flicked the cards at a wall, closest to the wall wins the cards. All of those things led to creased and bent cards. Also having gum in the packs and the packs being sealed with wax also led to other non-obvious flaws in the certain cards within the pack.

Speaking of bike spokes, my dad tells me his story of him and his brother using a few Mickey Mantel Topps Rookie cards in theirs as kids. What where they thinking!? haha Thanks for all the tips guys!

What where they thinking!? haha Thanks for all the tips guys! Had a buddy whose mom kept telling him to clean up his room. So one day walking past his house out by the garbage is a 3 foot tall stack of baseball cards. I grabbed a few Pirates, but left the rest there. I am sure there was some good stuff as they were early 70s and prior baseball cards. Needless to say, wish I would have taken them all as his mom threw out his whole collection and would not let him get them.
