My collecting interests are probably more philosophical than anything ... I'd say my current collection is 85% baseball 10% non sport (Star Wars, vintage non-sport trading cards) and 5% sports other than baseball (hockey/football/basketball) I've always loved the thrill of opening a new pack - no matter what it was .. and the potential of getting that 1:1000 insert card that would make your return on investment so worthwhile. I also like trying to assemble vintage sets, sport and non-sport, for the least money possible. I like the idea of "re-uniting" cards in a set and wondering who has owned them over the years .. some 12 year old buying some bubble gum in the 50's .. and it surviving in a suburban attic for years. And on the same note I'm probably unlike most collectors today in the fact that I like lesser grade vintage cards .. they have more character. My best find was an ebay auction for '61 topps cards at $20 that had literally been through the bicycle spokes .. but included the Maris,Mays and lots of high numbers. If there's any modern set that I'm trying to complete it's the 2001 Topps Baseball Gold (#'d to 2001). It represents the year I got seriously back into card collecting ,the golden anniversary of the brand of my childhood, and something about the knowledge that only 2001 sets could every be reassembled .. and the number diminishes each time another collector in Japan frames the Ichiro rookie card on his wall or another kids' mom throws out the shoebox with the lucky results a few packs of cards bought at 7-11 for $.99 each. The first player I collected all cards from was Bob Watson - because of his guest appearance in the Bad News Bears movie and the "Let them Play" chant at the Astrodome. Who knew that he would be the MLB disciplinarian . I was also a Willie Randolph fan growing up .. and will one day collect all his cards .. and now that he's manager of the mets there will be all those manager cards and team checklists to find ... I know .. pretty odd .. but I like it .. and one day I will trade or sell off the lot for pretty cheap and just keep a few "prized" possessions .. because I hate lugging them around whenever I move ... Ha! I got stopped by airport security last time I flew home to England after staying at my dad's in NJ because I had about 100 cards from the 50's in top loaders loose in my carry-on. The security gaurd kept calling over his friends to check out the players .. and I nervously let them go through them all ... good thing there was no one there from customs -Jim

My order...#1-NFL-2.NHL-3.MLB-4.NBA-Racing, etc I also collect with a nostalgic mind-set, but really like the quality of the modern issues as well. I really enjoy the photo's on the cards EX: I have a 1999 Ultra #68 Favre displayed on my shelf, so I guess BV really isn't an issue...Lol One thing I don't do is chase the hot players..I pretty much look for the diamond in the ruff type players(all sports) or just pick up a lower-end Rc. of the Gotta have's, like Ichiro, Pujols, LeBron, etc.. And like jrlenox..I'd never trade my 1960's-70's flip cards. They stayed in in my pocket & in rubber bands most of the season Eventually I'd like to focus on the Pinnacle,Aurora,Pacific, and perhaps Ionx prism types of cards...When the sun hits those cards they GLOW!! Plus with the prices for HOF G/U(even some auto's) I will always pick them up..Just haven't decided what direction to take with these. Man, I guess I collect a little of everything.
My almost updated trade+ site. Looking for Vintage all sports, and nice pieces from teams below PM/email with any offers. Thank You. Also 1990 Topps, and 2003 old logo. Call someone a dodee buttt in the heat of a debate, banhammer, trying with all your might to pass fakes, or what amounts to fraud..Eh, give em a break, he made a mistake??!!??

I'm a set builder of Topps baseball sets from 1975 thru 1995. I'm also working on a 1967 baseball set. I have about 10 more cards I need on that. I've been working on that set for about 10 years. Some times I think I'm getting too picky. I'm also working on a 1975-76 Topps hockey set and 1979-80 Topps basketball set and a 1971 Topps football set. I also collect pre-war cards of sports players named Hogan. I have about 25 or so from different sets. I find them mostly on Ebay and card shows. I don't get to many shows. I like the bigger shows, there's not many around any more. I have some newer cards that I use for trading from all 4 sports. I still like vintage cards the most. I'm 47 years old and live in the Boston Mass area.

I collect mainly Hockey and Football, and very little baseball.
No favorite players in any sport. I like all the superstars, but I also really admire the guys who do it all and do not get noticed. Troy Brown of the Patriots comes to mind from this year's football, when he played both defense and offense.
I am mainly starting to just focus on RCs, and vintage cards when I can find them affordably. I love to complete sets when I start a product (usually just the base set anymore). I like vintage players game used cards, in the beleif that there will not be as many of their jerseys to cut up for cards. Those jerseys also seem to have a nostalgic texture (tan or grey "white" uniforms, they look used! LOL) when compared with modern day jersey cards.
If anyone has vintage hockey (50's to 70's) they do not want let me know.
Good luck if you are pack busting!

Wouldnt it be cool to get a concert worn Sgt Peppers outfit from Live 8!!
1970s Pittsburgh Steelers - I need Swanny, Stallworth, Webster, Holmes, Russell, Ham, Lambert, white and Bleier
I need the following GU Baeball Walter Johnson and Christy Mathewson

Maybe the need to arrange tours with new guys other than the national. Like Roethlisberger or Mannings.
