It's been a very eventful week. On Monday, I got to my centre and noticed something strange about the front door. It had been forced open and the doorknob was badly damaged. It still didn't sink in until I went inside.....the whole place was a mess. Only then did I realize we were robbed over the weekend!

All in all, we lost 2 computers, some petty cash, a few personal effects....totalling about $500. Apparently, 2 other businesses were also hit during the same time period....our neighbour and another shoplot on the ground floor. (My tuition centre is on the 2nd floor).

Unfortunately, the police were not very helpful at all and said that nothing could be done about it. Insurance in Malaysia is maddening to say the least....so it looks as though we're gonna have to just bear the losses ourselves.

In terms of monetary loss, it's minor....the major headache is that many of our accounting and financial files were in the computers. The thieves also broke into our filing cabinets and stole our thumbdrives, which contain the backup files. Thankfully, we've got another backup on hardcopy, but it's gonna take a long time to re-enter all that information.

More importantly, we're thankful that no one was hurt. Last year, another business office not too far away from us was robbed. That time, it happened during the day and the robbers were armed....not too sure of the details but a few people were seriously hurt. Pray that nothing of the sort happens to us....we've got many young students in the centre.

I just hope things will get better soon! The office is still a mess and my poor secretary is overworked as it is sad.gif
