I am mostly a player collector. Main focuses are on Brett Favre, Ernie Sims, and recently Lawrence Timmons...I could almost be considered a supercollector of Ernie Sims, because I have 2 or 3 1/1s of him, but I have slacked off since the end of last season so I would have to buy a few lots to get that ranking....Brett Favre has been a really up and coming thing with me lately, when I was younger I always loved pulling cards of him, but now I am really pushing to get as many different cards of him as I can before he retires and his prices skyrocket...Lawrence Timmons...hmm I haven't been trying to hard with his collection and I'm not sure how long I will continue with it, if he develops like Sims I will try to keep it going, but other than that I migth just forget about him if he is a flop.

I collect all cards of Ernie Sims (77/460=16.74%), Brett Favre (321/11536=2.78% :P), and Alando Tucker (14/398 = 3.51%)

I went for set collector, as the first project (possible mini project) I have gone for since coming into the hobby is to put together all 16 of the Rivals cards and all 25 of the Playbook cards out of 07 Gridiron Gear. I Could also come under 'Soon to be Player Collector' as I am wanting to start a collection of Jay Cutler cards.

Baseball:
07 Bowman Heritage, 'Pieces of Greatness'.
Football:

I thought it was time to bump this sweet thread!!

I chose player collector, but someday hope to get to say super player collector.

I also do some team collecting (browns, ohio state).

Focus on play though!

If this would have been posted last year, then I would have been a AU/GU collector and Dabbler, since I just collected what caught my eye. But now that McFadden is in the picture, I'm a player collector.

I love how some of the descriptions have more of a negative tone than others. No bias at all, eh? wink.gif

I'd say I'm both a "dabbler" and "flipper."

I also love how you say that a flipper breaks a lot of boxes, when in fact, you rarely get that much profit, if any, by breaking boxes.

Ey, it's all I had at the time.

Everyone moves from one type to another.
In my case: dabbler - box breaker - team - frustrated - on sabbatical - prewar - player - team - player - team smile.gif

Pre-war cards(baseball, horse racing)

Don't many prospect "flippers" bust tons of Chrome products for that reason?

I'm using the "prospector" and "flipper" categorizations interchangeably here, since both, well.....flip.

I'm definitely a team collector. I want every Steeler card in existence! Past, present, you name it, I want it.

I will take duplicates.

I also collect Auburn alumni:
Mostly Bo Jackson, Jason Campbell, Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, Carlos Rogers, and Ronnie Brown.

I'm part team collector, player collector, box breaker, rookie collector and old school.

But I voted for old school. I love buying cases of older cards and busting them open. Most of my card buying is older wax/cello/rack boxes.

Packers team fanatic here. Actually cards are one of my lowest priorities because they focus on the player more so than the team. Player items I like the most are things like the pizza hut glass set with Lombardi, Starr, Hornung, Davis, Nitschke and Kramer. Or the RC cola can Packers team set, or the coke cap stuff from the 60's and 70's or the Drenks potato chip pin set. Other than that I really like team oriented glassware and team oriented die cast but I will collect anything Packers if I can get it.

No Favre rookies or Jets cards in my collection. here are just a couple of pictures.
