I mean I don't understand what the fuss is about, isn't this a trade site? I would understand if someone "bumped" "ttt" "^^^" within unreasonable time frame. But this only shows that they are serious traders out there wanting to trade, personally i do it when it disappears from the fist page, honestly does anyone surf through pages 2 3 4 ....., i don't do it regularly and when i do reply to one of those they never reply back b/c it's forgotten. This probably is the 3rd busiest site i visit and as it gets more and more traffic y'all need to lax on bumping unless those that are bumping threads for fun of it.

maybe we should have a thread to ask for permission to bump?

I think one of the main complains is one someone 'ttt's or 'bumps' within only a few hours of posting the topic, and then does that three-four times a day.

and one more comment

I take the time at least twice a day to page down through all the posts! It is part of what a team member is supposed to do!

and yes sometimes i get really tired of seeing the same marketplace or trading threads posted 16 times! I shoot a polite PM to those people and say once is enough! Thank you!

If your post doesnt attract any interest then, well maybe, no one is interested! Did you ever consider that? I do?
*

so, is this all just a burden to those team members who "have to" review the posts, or is it an issue with the members as a whole? i have never had a problem with it. why is this even an issue? i think that these complaint threads are a much bigger annoyance than any "bumped" thread from a member. there is a reason the thread changes to a red color after you have opened it, you know you have seen it before and you can just ignore it, no big deal! just my 2 cents.

Bumping of threads annoy me, and I don't have to 'review' any posts. I think it shows impatience.

I think so. It is usually frowned upon when people bump multiple times a day with simple posts like "bump", "ttt", etc.

'Creative' bumps please.. I've actually been on the prowl today with this. Some of the threads are so obnoxious to read.

And please TRY to wait 24 hours... 3-4 hours later is not acceptable.

Sorry, exasperated.

I would rather someone bump an old thread then starting a new one of the exact same thing.

Yes this is true, but one can be more creative than just one word or three letters. And if the thread only has their "bumps" for the last 6 posts, then probably nobody interested anyway.

24 hours...really??, I figure bumping anything less than a week old is WEAK.

I give a "bump" to my trade threads once in a while, but only if there have been a decent number of new issues added or deleted...

I do get irritated at that. "ttt" I mean come on, really? As another member has pointed out at least be creative and wait an acceptable amount of time. This commonly happens in the Marketplace Forums. I have learned that chances are, if you are the only one posting in your own thread, nobody is interested in the stuff you are selling/trading!

Wow this is the best thing the mods can do. Trying to control people on how to bump. You can't use this or you can't use that what can you use. Now i really see why alot of people hate tcc.

Very nice constructive criticism there, well done.

For your information, we are asked to enforce the rules by the site creator Bob. "Bumps" is one of the things he has asked us to moderate. So we do it.

And you are absolutely right, whenever I am perusing other trading forums I often come across people who say "I left TCC because I was not allowed to bump my threads...." rolleyes.gif

"Baseball players will take anything. If you had a pill that would guarantee a pitcher 20 wins but might take five years off his life, he'd take it" MLB pitcher Jim Bouton about drug use in the Major Leagues... quoted in 1969.

I vow to no longer purchase any product that features sticker autographs...
If your user name is this color I'm afraid I'll have to pass on any proposed transactions at this time.

I am not trying to criticism any mods or what not. But there seems to be more rules about bumping then anything else on this site. My Point is whats the difference between lets trade, etc. to bump or ttt. They serve the same purpose to bump your thread up. May i ask why tcc from what it seems hates bumping

Here's my take on this. If you were to meet me in person would you say "bump" or "ttt" or "to the top", or would you say "let's trade". If you were trying to sell something at a market would you be yelling "anyone?????", or would you rather be saying "I have these left" or "Would anyone like anything I have?". Why can't a forum be along the same lines. Just because you're hiding behind a computer does not mean it has to be impersonal.

The idea is to try and make it more personable to everyone. Be thoughtful and creative when [posting not only bumps, but in any writing that you do on the board.

There are more creative ways of bumping than just grunting out a "ttt" or "bump".

"Let's trade" is actually more understandable than any triple-constanant combination.
