Today we move to music with the band Seether: Lead guitarist Pat Callahan (who actually just quit the band) had his guitar "inducted" into the Hard Rock Cafe in Philadelphia last year. They were also to perform an exclusive acoustic set there as well, and the only way to go was to win passes from WYSP, a local radio station. Well, I won tix so my wife and I headed over. There were maybe 80 people at this thing, real intimate. I brought along the CD to get signed. When we got in they actually had a free buffet set up, so we grabbed some grub. As we sat down to eat the band came out to mingle, sign autographs and take pictures. We already started eating, so I figured we'd just wait. Bad move, since they started to leave to get ready to play. By the time I got to them only the bass player (Dale Stewart) was left, d'oh! At least I was able to get him. So we hung out, saw the official unveiling of Pat's guitar on the wall, and watched their set (about an hour). They were and are a really good live band. After they were done playing they all headed into the back except for Pat. So I went up to him and got his auto and a pic with him (my wife wouldn't get in the pic, I think she has the hots for him ). Then I went over by where the other guys exited and the singer (Shaun Morgan) came out and signed for people. He is one ugly dude, lol. So the only member I never got was the drummer. Still, was an excellent experience!!

Today is the best player on the Devil Rays, Carl Crawford: Unless you live under a rock (or haven't read my entire thread ) you know that Will Clark is my favorite player. But if I had to pick a favorite current player it would be Carl, and I'll tell you why - when I was drafting my Fantasy Baseball team in 2004 I picked up this guy named Carl Crawford, much to the amusement of the rest of my league. I was seriously mocked for picking up this no-name guy. "Carl Crawford? Who the heck is THAT?" I stood by my pick and said "You'll see." Needless to say he tore it up and helped me into the Championships (I ended up losing the championship). But ever since then I've liked him. Now about the autograph - So last year I went down to Baltimore when the D-Rays were in town in hopes of nabbing Carl. If you don't know Baltimore there are two entrances, one on either side of the stadium, that players enter. It's basically a crapshoot to guess which entrance they'll use (and if they'll even sign!). Naturally I picked the wrong entrance (another collector told me he went in the other way) and I was unable to get him inside. Missed him after the game too. Rats. So I went back again later in the season to try again, I was DETERMINED to get Carl!! This time after the game I waited by the "other" entrance. Sure enough, eventually out comes Carl fidgeting with his I-Pod. About half a dozen people approach him. He says "I'm not stopping, walk with me." So I was able to get him on his way out, I was so happy!!! I also got a nice picture of him stealing second base.
