I collect more baseball than hockey but I love both. I have been trying to get in on a baseball group case/box break with not a lot of luck so far (too many dang Red Sox fans ). I decided to check hockey to try to get in on a break for Bruins cards and was suprised when I didn't see any group breaks here. So that led me to a few questions. Would there be enough interest here on a hockey group break? If so, what would people prefer, more of a random group of boxes or a single case of one product? What 07-08 product(s) would people be most interested in? If there were enough interest I wouldn't mind setting it up so if you think that might be something you would be interested in post a reply and help guide me to what you would want. If not, I'll just go back to the baseball forum and keep trying to get in on a group break for Red Sox cards.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Always looking for Red Sox and Bruins cards. Single cards, GU, AU, team lots.Always trading what's in My Trade Bucket and there's more to trade. If you have Red Sox/Bruins to trade let me know what team/player you are looking for.

Not sure what is in there for Baseball, is quite a few for FB though. I can't afford another one at this time and not sure if enough Hockey fans here to support another one, but doesn't hurt to try.

As Urbanmonk noted there is one already going on and we have had members change the last two months, but that does not mean another one could not be started. As for me it would depend primarily on price and products. I am already involved with a football and hockey group so adding another would really depend on price.
I would like to see another one started in the $15-20 range where all teams would be drafted each month by putting everyone's name into a random organizer for the draft pick order, so that nobody has the same team each month. I am a Pens fan and the Pens are taken on the one I am in but I would also like the opportunity for others to have a chance at a team someone else has as. I know we have multiple people interested in the Caps and Leafs, etc.
I am sure there would be other people interested, these are just some of my thoughts, so please lmk what you are thinking for price. The more ideas you share, the more feedback (positive or negative) you will receive.

QUOTE(obert22 @ Mar 8 2008, 04:23 PM) Ah, thanks guys. I didn't see the group break there. It doesn't appear to be a lot of interest in another break so I'll try to get in on the next one for April. Thanks for the replies! -Mark Mark, The topic for the Hockey Club is in box breaks I beleive. Anyway, do not count this as done yet it has only been 17 hours, there maybe some interest. I am not against getting in another one as long as I can afford it. As I said I know there were some others interested in teams already taken in our group so there might be some interest there.

QUOTE(obert22 @ Mar 8 2008, 11:22 PM) Great. If there is enough interest I have no problem being the point man on this one. Back to one of my original questions though, would folks be interested in a bunch of boxes of different cards or a case of one? I could go either way I guess but I'm not sure if there is a certain set that might be better than others. -Mark Not sure the current group busts 3-4 different boxes. Cases are nice but if you go that route you loose some of the player/team collecters as they do not want 10 of each base card, which is the reason they are in these box breaks, just so they get cards of their favorite team, but not tons of dupes. I had another member express interest in a group break via pm. I think if an idea was started with a price per member and some boxes you want to break that we could see better from that thread as to who wants in. As I mentioned earlier I would be in if the break was around $20. At 15 slots at $20 you would have $300 total for boxes and supplies. Then it is just a matter of determining which boxes fit that budget with supplies and postage so say roughly $260-270 for boxes and the remainder for supplies (toploaders, cases, team bags, postage, etc). Nobody has to pay until we are sure all the slots are filled.

This is basically where each member buys the team of their choice. So say your favorite team (heatersgirl) is the Senators. You pay $20 for every Sens card in the break and your other drafted team (whatever teams are left to choose from after the first 15 teams are purchased). What you get for $20 could be as little as just base or could be as much as base, auto, gu, etc. it all depends on how the break goes for you. Tromni had Washington and Calgary last month and he got a nice $200 Iginla auto #/15 from the break. Bob-TCC has the Pens and Red Wings this month and he got a Mario GU, Datsyuk GU, and T Kennedy YG so far. It is all a matter of luck of the draw.
The current club sells 15 slots and then the other 15 teams remaining are assigned via a draft. Everyone puts in $26 so you have $430 for the boxes and shipping. You buy $370-390 in boxes and the remainder goes to shipping and supplies (toploaders, etc). In that one I have Chicago, plus a drafted team. Each month we bust boxes and whatever Chicago players, plus my drafted team are pulled I get.

QUOTE(TMacfreak91 @ Mar 17 2008, 10:56 PM) If this goes through I call exclusive first dibs on the Pens or Blackhawks (in that order), just thought I'd throw that out there since Kirk is making his claim on the Caps Steve Huh? Did not see that coming, thought you would be Sabres all the way. Honestly, I would like to see a hockey one done similar to what they are doing with football breaks by making the top rookie teams as secondary draft teams so everyone has a random chance of picking the top draft teams for those year products but that would mean possibly making these teams undraftable until the second round: Capitals (Backstrom), Hawks (Toews, Kane), Edm. (Gagner), Habs (Price) and possibly a few others Coyotes? (Mueller). Just a thought.

Well Brian, while the Sabres of course are my favorite, I already have them in the other group with a great chance of getting a hit there and if we break any of the same products there's a HUGE chance of me getting waaaay too many base dupes. You know how much I hate those dupes;) Also I'd love to try and get some nice tradebait or just a nice item in general from another team with lots of young stars because I never really have been able to get anything like that before. Sides, Kane is my hometown guy, he lived about 10 minutes from where I live. I'd love to get something of him. I agree about what you said about making those teams undraftable also. I'd also like to mention the Pens don't have a superstar ROOKIE but rather superstar Sophomores I really want to get this going, I am very excited! Steve

QUOTE(obert22 @ Mar 20 2008, 11:52 PM) Sorry folks. I just got back from spring training in Fort Myers so I've been out of the loop for the last few weeks. Glad to see there is some interest in this. Give me some time to read over everyones replies and then I'll see if I can put something together. Still interested in anyones opinions though incuding which product(s) to go for. This is my first one so I don't want to make it too complicated. -Mark Just figure a few boxes that would fall within $300 (less apx $30-40 for shipping and supplies to ship) and just throw a couple ideas out there. Usually products with more hits go better. 06-07 Sweet Shot hockey Tins contain 3 hits for $47 07-08 UD Ice -3 hits for $80-86 07-08 SP GU - 6 hits 5gu/1au for $186 (not worth it in my opinion but others want to open it) 07-08 UD Trilogy - 6 3 GU/3 auto hits for $133 07-08 UD S1 - 2 GU hits for $79 07-08 UD S2 - 2 GU hits for $58 07-08 SPx 3 hits 1au/2gu for $109 A combo of Trilogy, Ice and a Sweet Shot tin would give you 12 possible hits for $266 full price (friday appears to be da's new discount day and I did not check prices elsewhere but Blowoutcards had Ice for $80 a day ago). So almost everyone (assuming each hit is for a different team) would get a hit, it is more likely that only 8 of 15 will get hits of GU/Autos though.
