Posted by: fenway1990 Jun 24 2010, 04:54 PM

so mi was thinking "you know what would be really cool... a tcc app for my driod or iphone" and then i thought could we make a app (and by we i mean the most educated app maker on this site) so i ask the question: Is a TCC app possible?

Posted by: ronaldinho0003 Jun 24 2010, 05:20 PM

That would be kind of cool.

Posted by: soccer23 Jun 24 2010, 05:23 PM

That would be awesome! I have an Itouch myself and I think that would be really helpful.

Posted by: joe31 Jun 24 2010, 05:55 PM

Im for it...

Posted by: sportscollector4life Jun 24 2010, 06:33 PM

that would be great!

Posted by: Gforce083 Jun 24 2010, 09:17 PM

No one really knows, and no, no one's taken his place as far as I know. Only he can grant that power and I don't believe he has even though it's been tried. And no one really knows.

for the time we have members on the TCC team who are taking over some of Bob's duties (updating the page and adding new members) however, that is all that can be done for now. Numerous attempts to reach Bob have failed sadly.

Making an app is a lot harder than you would think.

Also, what would we put on a TCC App? What would you want to be on there.

Once I get a Mac (I should be getting one for college), I am going to start learning Iphone App Development, but until then, we can certainly plan.

I think a mobile site would be more useful than an app personally.

Posted by: mjda Jan 7 2011, 08:36 PM

The app should give members the ability to login, read, post, and reply to threads. Also, it's not nearly as hard as you might think, especially considering there are already plugins out there that'll do it.

It costs thousands of dollars to make an app. Not something you just do in your free time for the heck of it.

Invision Power Board already has an iPhone app that can be added to the site. They're also currently working on an Android app. So, nobody here has to make one in their free time. wink.gif

Thousands of dollars? Google recently released an app creation program easy enough for a monkey to use. Geez guy, I don't get you most of the time.

I think you may be confusing a mobile site with an app. They are very different, but I think a mobile site is the direction we should be heading.

I already had TCC mobile! You guys are late. I just unhook my laptop and head on down to Mcds, and start up the wifi! BOOM. laugh.gif tongue.gif wacko.gif

Then do some research and maybe you will.

"Now the heartbreaking news. Lets factor in our development costs. Again, independent source, the Internet Retailer reported on May 1, 2010, that most apps cost between $25,000 and $50,000 to develop. There is another older source I also found, prMac which on 15 December 2009 reported that typical iPhone apps cost between $15,000 and $50,000 to develop. Lets take the mathematical average of those four extreme points, and we arrive at the typical iPhone App development cost of $35,000. Also, lets assume our developers are very clever, they do not need to do any further development of our App, an update would cost a further $10,000 according to Internet Retailer."

And plenty of other sites say in the thousands, along with people I've talked with who have looked into creating apps.

I agree with that too, and the lo-fi version is already a start. It wouldn't be too hard at all to turn that into a mobile site. In fact, I'd bet that someone has already done that work too so all that would need to be done is installing a plugin.

just get tapa talk and it will be easy

Posted by: fenway1990 Jan 13 2011, 02:49 PM

my suggestion was more of a app /link that you can put on yout screen like an app and when you click on it it goes to a easy to navigate tcc screen. i dont see that costing 25 grand. and i would imagine it could be created for free or a small amount AND i am sure there is a computer geek on here SOMEWHERE.

Since the owner of the site hasn't been active in going on 7 years now, I'd just assume that nothing has changed. confused.gif
